As spring ramps up, I’ve been thinking about some of the projects from last year that I never got around to sharing. Here’s one with a pretty cool story.

I’ve worked with this client for over 12 years. I actually started splitting wood for them when I was about 8 years old. Since then we’ve mowed, mulched, landscaped, and more for them on multiple properties. The wife was my kindergarten teacher, and the husband recently got me involved in our local Rotary chapter, which helped shape my passion for giving back to the community. My mother even babysat their kids when she was in high school.

I’ve looked at this hillside for years and always thought about how we could improve it.

What used to be rotting 4x4’s, uneven steps, and cheap 16x16 pavers from Menards is now high-quality natural limestone, consistent, beautiful, and built to stand the test of time.

Projects like this mean a lot to me. It’s pretty special to come back years later and help improve a property for people who played a role in your life growing up.

Growth doesn’t happen overnight.

Continuous improvement matters to us. I recently completed additional professional training focused on building better systems, asking better questions, and providing more value. We also spend time networking with other contractors, learning from each other, and using our downtime intentionally, so the Avid Landscapes experience continues to improve over time.

Standing still isn’t an option, we’re committed to getting better every season.

As we wrap up 2025, we just want to say thank you.

At 13 years old, I bought my first commercial mower; a 52” V-Ride 2 and it helped me build the foundation of Avid Landscapes. Today, it’s time to retire the 52 and welcome the new XL, just in time for cleanup season. Excited to see where this next chapter with takes us! Thanks to Knowels Produce for taking great care of us!

As the summer winds down and our seasonal help heads back to college, I can’t help but reflect on how grateful I am for Adam and Jack. These two guys were the backbone of our mowing route all summer, keeping everything dialed in while also helping me learn and grow as a leader.

Because of their hard work, we were able to take on more installs and see some amazing growth this year. I hate to see them go, but I’m proud of the impact they’ve made and excited to keep building more awesome team members like them in the future!
