Arena real talk 101:

What’s the most important thing about an arena?
Footing-important
Arena drag-important
Maintenance-important
Fence-important
Build design and tolerances- MOST IMPORTANT

The most important step when building or overhauling a arena is to make sure that the tolerances of the foundation is on point, no matter what build make up design you choose (traditional/free draining all weather/cross-over hybrid model). If your earth and base are not built to spec it will always be a battle. Think of it as the same as building a beautiful home, but on a cracked foundation and on wetlands. This is why it’s so important to talk to your builders, and as builders it’s our job to explain, educate, reiterate the plan. Explain your equipments duties and technology, explain the differences between the builds and outcomes along with expectations of each design. If your contractor isn’t running automatic lasers and giving you options, run. At the same time we as builders get put into scenarios where you need to work with what you your given and a budget, improvise and explore a plan for the best outcome possible. Don’t let builders and footing companies fool you, not ever job is picture perfect and a blank check book and if someone tells you that then they are fibbin.
