Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! We are super thankful for all of our clients who keep us busy throughout the year! We are also thankful for all of the other arborists out there, both in Wyoming and beyond, who work together with us to learn about trees and improve our industry so we can all continue to take care of our community forests together! I couldn’t be more honored to receive this award! Thank you so much to Wyoming State Forestry, and to all of my friends and colleagues in the tree world who have supported, inspired, and encouraged me over the years. The work we all do makes the world a better place and I am so proud to be a part of the arboricultural community. 🥰

We had a great time volunteering at Wyoming Saluting Branches at the Sheridan VA Medical Center today! It’s always nice to work with our fellow arborists and tree people from across the state, and it’s even better when it’s helping support our veterans. Thanks for everyone who helped make this happen today!

This is cedar-apple rust, a fungus that requires two hosts to complete its lifecycle, in this case junipers or cedars and apples, crabapples, or hawthorns. I’ve never seen it this thick on a juniper! Unfortunately, it’s most effective to apply fungicides to apple trees preventatively, right before the flowers are open. So it’s a bit too late now. There are cultivars of both junipers and apples that are resistant, so if you’re thinking of planting either tree, it’s good to check for disease resistance when picking out what to plant.

We were super honored to have the opportunity to prune this amazing old cottonwood tree at the Neltje Center. This tree looked like it may never have been pruned other than a few lower limbs, which was good since nobody had ever topped or lion’s tailed it. We only removed three live branches, by reducing limbs over the house that had defects. Otherwise we only pruned out dead wood, and there was a ton of that. Thanks so much to Clark Van Hoosier for climbing this one for us! This tree is truely a treasure and hopefully still has a long life ahead.

We are honored to have the opportunity to prune the large cottonwood trees at the Johnson County Courthouse. These trees can be seen in old photographs from the 1920s, so are over 100 years old. They are still in great shape, and with protection and proper care, can continue to provide benefits to the community for many years to come.
