This month’s birthday lunch was extra special 🎉
Every month, we come together to celebrate team members with birthdays—but April holds a special place in our story. It marks the birth month of our founder, James W. Kideney. This year Kideney also embarks on an incredible milestone: 100 years in business.
To honor the occasion, we took a walk down memory lane—looking through old photos, revisiting past projects, and reflecting on the journey that brought us here. It was a powerful reminder of the people, passion, and purpose that have shaped our company over the past century.
Here’s to celebrating our history, our team, and the exciting future ahead. And of course, happy birthday to all our April celebrants! 🎂

🏛️ A new chapter for a familiar building.

For years, this building was filled with classrooms. Now it’s welcoming residents.

Leasing has begun at 40 North in Buffalo, where the former Bryant & Stratton College building has been thoughtfully transformed into 19 apartments. The design preserves the building’s character—tall ceilings, large windows, and its historic presence—while introducing modern living spaces. ✨

Projects like this are always rewarding—giving an existing building new life while staying connected to its history.

The former home of Bryant & Stratton College in Allentown has been converted into residential apartments. Kideney Architects is saddened to share the passing of John Laping, former Principal and a cornerstone of our firm’s history. John joined Kideney more than 60 years ago and became Principal in 1977. He contributed to many landmark projects across Western New York and was a tireless advocate for historic preservation. Known for his thoughtful leadership and humility, John’s influence on our firm and our city will endure. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

🎓✏️ This past Friday, the Buffalo Architecture Foundation hosted the Architecture + Education (A+E) 2026 Symposium—bringing together Buffalo Schools' teachers, design professionals, and at Buffalo students to learn by doing.

🏗️📐 A+E uses architecture as a hands-on way to teach math, science, literacy, and teamwork through design challenges and creative problem-solving.

👏 Proud to have Kideney Architects’ Yady DeSantis, AIA, NCARB, on the A+E committee and Megan Au working directly with students. We can’t wait to see these projects come to life in Buffalo classrooms!
