🥾 Another adventure for the Nussbaumer Hiking Club!

Earlier this month, members of our team hit the trails at Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park, making their way to one of Western New York’s most unique natural attractions—the Eternal Flame. 🔥

Tucked behind a (water level dependent) waterfall in the park’s Shale Creek Preserve, the Eternal Flame is a naturally occurring flame fueled by natural gas seeping through the rock.

It was a great outing and another opportunity for our team to enjoy some time together outside the office while exploring one of WNY’s local treasures!

We're seeking an experienced Site Civil Engineer to help lead land development and municipal infrastructure projects throughout Western New York.

From residential and commercial developments to roadway, drainage, and utility improvements, you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects that help shape the communities we serve.

Location: Western New York
Salary: $95,000–$115,000 annually
Full-Time | In-Office

We're looking for someone with:
• 5–10 years of site civil engineering experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Strong project management and communication skills
• NYS PE license preferred, but not required

Imagine a Day Without Water is a national day of awareness to remind us how essential clean, reliable water is to our everyday lives—and how much our health, communities, and economy depend on it.

At Nussbaumer, we're proud to play a role in keeping water flowing throughout Western New York. We're excited to welcome Matthew Rosenberg, a senior at Lockport High School, to Nussbaumer as part of the school's Career Pathways Academy Program!

Matthew has a strong interest in engineering and is currently applying to both the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy. Through this exploratory internship, he'll have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience with real-world engineering projects and municipal infrastructure.

During his time with us, Matthew will learn about the City of Lockport's Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) system, tour the City's wastewater treatment plant and compost facility, and develop process flow diagrams to illustrate how these facilities operate.

At Nussbaumer, we understand the importance of introducing young people to the engineering profession and providing opportunities to explore potential career paths. We're proud to support programs like Lockport High School's Career Pathways Academy that connect classroom learning with hands-on professional experiences.

🥾 Hitting the Trails! 🌿

The Nussbaumer Hiking Club took advantage of the summer weather with an outing last month at Eighteen Mile Creek County Park in Hamburg, NY.

It was a warm day on the trails, but our hikers enjoyed the chance to get outside, explore some beautiful local scenery, and spend time together away from the office. It’s a great way to stay active and enjoy WNY's outdoor spaces.

Last week, Nussbaumer team members Chris Freese, Joshua Graf, Jennifer Witnauer, and Anna Swisher attended the Alfred State Fall Career Fair.

Our team had the opportunity to speak with students about careers in land surveying, construction inspection, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering, as well as future internship and full-time opportunities at Nussbaumer. We were impressed by how engaged, personable, and prepared the students were.

Thank you to Alfred State College - SUNY College of Technology for hosting such a well-organized and well-attended event, and to everyone who stopped by our table to meet the Nussbaumer team. We hope to see some familiar faces again as we begin recruiting for our Summer 2027 internships!

Our team was glad to take part in the NYS AWWA TIFFT Symposium right here in Buffalo last week! 💧 Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table.

Mike Marino, Amanda McNamara, EIT, and Madison Rich, PE, CDT represented Nussbaumer at the event, which provided fellow water industry professionals the opportunity to share ideas and learn more about the latest topics and trends shaping the industry.
