We just did some work on the spot that started it all - our first shop on Plymouth. Purchased at the annual Buffalo tax auction in 1991, it served as our window shop until 2016. Here are just some highlights of the shutter style window restoration. Sign up for our newsletter over @ jagulick.com to see and learn more about our projects.

Ever wondered how we construct oval or circular windows like these? If we can't use the original window to match, we often use templates to get those beautiful curves perfect. Both of these windows are restored for buildings in Allentown. Sign up for our monthly newsletter over @ jagulick.com to see more project information!

Even with an incredible maintenance program, The Buffalo Zoo needed 5 new doors to match the original badly deteriorated doors, we also restored 11 existing doors on the main administrative and exhibit hall (lions & tigers & gorillas, oh my) because of 100 years of wear & tear. The doors from that time were also never glued! Really, the need for replacement of the doors came down to failing joints and many years of use/abuse. So, we salvaged what we could, updated the joinery, added safety glass, and brass corner guards to help these doors last another 100+ years! Storms help protect and insulate windows throughout the variety of temperature shifts and seasons. We have the capacity to restore aluminum and wood storms, but prefer wood as the lower heat transfer. Here are some storms we've built. One of them, we uncovered an original detailing on the inner windows and applied it to the storms since the windows are covered over. It was such a fun way to bring a creative element to a functional piece!

The latest project at 800 W Ferry is installed and completed! While the view from the south facing windows is incredible, it unfortunately has overexposed the wood over the last 100 years! We had the fortunate opportunity to refinish the wood window wall while installing the restored steel windows. Let us know what you think of the before & after! We have been completing historic restoration projects at 800 W Ferry for close to 20 years, and these are from a recent original steel window restoration. When we arrived it was noted NONE of the steel windows were operable - they were all painted and or sealed closed. The steel frames and sash were abrasive blasted to a “near white” finish prior to steel repairs and coatings. Then, all new leaded lites were fabricated and installed into the restored steel sash with new brass bushings installed as needed. All restored sash now operate as they did when first installed 95 years ago! Stay tuned for final install photos.

A new customer brought us this well loved sash and asked us to fabricate 3 new ones. We used it to get the curves, then used that to develop a template for accurate replication.
We're not sure where they came from or where they're going, but we do know we loved making them!

Happy Holidays from everyone here! Wishing you an end of year full of celebrations with family and friends.
