To friends, family and fans of the Coles House Project, happy holidays from the Coles House Project! We have some exciting news……

One donor just doubled our donations!

This generous donation of $8,500 from a passionate and committed donor in Pittsburgh came through last week, getting us close to $17,000–just in time for Giving Tuesday. This is an amazing boost for our collective work on the Coles House Project, and it's all thanks to you— friends, family and fans of the Coles House Project.

Kisha, a member of this important group, reached out to her network, and connected us to a fan all the way from Pittsburgh. This one simple act–sharing with her network Bob Coles' vision for the world, made way for someone to step up and support us, as we fight to preserve his anchor–his home–as a site for inspiration and action.

We are clear that we are only as strong as our network. Please give what you can to help us buy the house at the following link: https://givebutter.com/d2vvg9

The Coles House Project preserves the House and Studio as a place for community; this space is made special by the collective. We are opening the house to the community while also hosting events: open house, meetings, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, tours, and more. But first we have to buy the house!

Much gratitude to all. And thank you for helping us build together.

Welcome to the Coles House Project! Here, at the Coles house and studio located in the east side of Buffalo, New York within the Hamlin Park Historic district is the place where community building in light of the legacy of Architect and Activist Robert Traynham Coles begins! This house and studio was designed by Robert Traynham Coles - New York State's and the North-East's first African American Architecture firm and built in 1961! The house was ingeniously designed by turning its back to the main street and instead placing the studio at the front. It was an architectural design expression and response to the Humboldt Parkway's conversion into the Kensington expressway. The style was mid-century modern consisting of two prefabricated units within an L-shape plan and listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2011! (NRHP ref. no. 11000594)
