Some before and after’s of a pond project we just finished in Hermitage.

This one had 2 ponds that were leaking. We first forestry mulched and opened up the area so that we could get a better idea of the terrain. Neither pond was built correctly nor had the ideal 3:1 grade needed to hold water. Also, the upper pond had lots of trees and roots that had overtaken and compromised the berm. So we completely eliminated and excavated the berm. Using soil the upper pond, we were able to correctly grade and reinforce the lower pond berm. The lower pond had been leaking and there was standing water at the bottom seeping into a ravine. To fix this required extending the berm out about another 40’ and compacting every 6”. We also used the good clay from the upper pond to re-grade the interior of the lower pond as well as raising and overflow discharge. Now this pond is easily accessible to fish all the around. Once we start getting some consistent rain, the pond level should raise another 5-6’. We also noticed deer traffic had increased in this area.

A special non-profit project we just finished for the Boys & Girls Club in Springfield.

We were contacted by them earlier this year. They have an acre and a half directly behind their new building on West Catalpa. This area was completely uneven, littered with trash, having homeless camp issues, and they were finding dirty needles all within 150 feet of their front door. They had gotten a couple other bids, which were extremely high and out of budget since this project was going to be paid for by private donations. One of the directors just happened to see our truck in traffic and gave us a call to see if we would take a look.

After seeing this property in person we knew we wanted to help. So we offered to take on the project and charge just our operating expenses and disposal. We removed 8 1/2 tons of trash, forestry mulched the area, re-graded and power raked everything, then built a small pad so that they could put in a garden shed.

Now that this area is prepped, they are going to be seeding it with native grasses and have an outdoor garden program. This will expose and teach city kids that wouldn’t otherwise have these opportunities. Not to mention, this is the only spot on property where the kids can safely play outdoors!

Today we’re in Ozark making quick work out of limbing up 2500’ of fence rows. This land owner will now be able to re-seed all of his pasture this fall.

Give us a call to get on our fall and winter schedule!

One of the questions we often get asked is how these machines do in a rock. Generally speaking, we can run triple carbide teeth on jobs that have loose surface rock and be just fine. However, last week we were on a job and encountered surface/glade rock that was just below the surface. This type of rock we try to avoid. With all the dust and leaves that has been getting stirred up in the drought conditions, we were unable to really see what we were cutting through. We usually get 3 to 400 hours out of carbide teeth. This set only had 35. Once we seen them start to break, we just kept running and got every penny out of them. Here’s a photo of the aftermath and what they should look like.
