The National Weather Service has just issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Wyoming County, Cattaraugus County, Chautauqua County, and southern Erie County. The warning will be in effect from 1 AM Thursday to 1 AM Saturday.

Heavy lake effect snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 12-20 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow.

Travel will be very difficult with deep snow cover on roads and poor visibility. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact Thanksgiving holiday travel. Gusty winds will down tree branches and cause isolated power outages.
