Over the past few weeks, we've responded to quite a few service calls that all had the same issue: a dirty air filter.

A clogged air filter can restrict airflow, reduce system performance, and even cause your A/C system to stop operating properly.

Before you schedule a service call, take a quick look at your air filter. A simple filter change could save you time, money, and an uncomfortable day without air conditioning.

Regular filter changes are one of the easiest and most important things you can do to keep your system running its best.

"The thicker and more expensive the filter, the better it is for your A/C system."

✅ FACT:
No! In most cases, thicker and more expensive filters restrict airflow and make your system work harder.

Many homeowners assume that the thicker and more expensive the air filter, the better it works. While thick, pleated filters can catch more particles in the air, they do so by sacrificing airflow. The thicker the filter, the more the airflow is restricted. Restricted airflow can cause your system to ice up and stop working properly.

💡 ADVICE:
For most homes, we recommend thinner, less expensive air filters. If you need a hypoallergenic filter because of allergies or other health concerns, choose one that helps with filtration while minimizing airflow restriction.

✅ FACT:
Your HVAC system is designed to move a balanced amount of air throughout your home.

Closing vents does not save energy — it actually:

Increases pressure in your duct system
