Do you know how to replace a toilet flapper? Replacing a flapper is normal toilet maintenance and usually needs to be done every 5–7 years. Over time, hard water, cleaning tablets, and everyday wear can cause the flapper to break down, leading to a running toilet. To replace it, first turn off the water supply and flush the toilet to empty the tank. Remove the old flapper from the flush valve and disconnect the chain. Then attach the new flapper, connect the chain with 1-2 links of slack, turn the water back on, and test the flush. If you want a long-lasting flapper that resists chlorine and harsh water conditions, Korky flappers are designed for durability and long-term performance.

Do you have a leaking toilet tank? That’s usually a sign your tank-to-bowl gasket or hardware is failing. Over time, the gasket can wear out and lose its seal by getting worn out from age and normal use. If you have already tried compressing the gasket and the leak is still there, the gasket is likely worn out and needs to be replaced. The fix is to remove the tank and install a new tank to bowl gasket and hardware. Since taking the tank off isn’t something most people want to do twice, it’s a good idea to use a Korky complete toilet repair kit so you can replace everything at once and avoid future leaks from older worn parts.

Have you ever had to replace your toilet fill valve? It’s a pretty common issue and just part of normal maintenance to keep your toilet running smoothly. Most fill valves wear out every 5–7 years, and depending on your water, sediment can clog up inside and cause problems. Korky fill valves come with a strainer that is fully serviceable, so instead of having to replace the entire valve you can just service the parts and extend the valves lifespan. If you don’t have a Korky valve, it’s better to simply replace the old fill valve.

Does your toilet flush twice? This happens when your flapper floats too long and flushes too much water. If you do not have an adjustable flapper, you need to get one. Adjustable flappers let you control how long the flapper floats and ultimately how much water goes into the bowl. To fix this all you have to do is adjust your flapper’s settings, so the flapper closes faster and flushes less water. We recommend getting a Korky 2X Long Life flapper – they’re made of a 2x stronger material that resist chemicals.

Have you ever heard your Kohler® toilet start running without flushing? That means your flush valve seal is leaking, causing the fill valve to turn on. Over time, rubber can wear out which is what causes the running toilet. It's recommended to replace your seal every 5 years to make sure your toilet isn't leaking and inflating your water bill. This simple DIY project only takes a few minutes to do. We recommend getting a Korky 2X Long-Life Fits Kohler® Seal - it's made of a 2X Stronger Material and is backed by a 10-year warranty.

Dealing with a slow or weak toilet flush? 🚽

Fixing a weak flush usually comes down to a few simple things:

Flapper chain length is too long
A broken toilet handle
Water level is set too low
Refill tube is not connected properly
Rim jets are partially clogged

Most of these fixes can be resolved by installing a Korky fill valve and flapper kit.

Have you noticed your toilet rocks when you sit down?

Loose bolts, uneven floors, or a worn-out wax seal are usually the cause. The good news? Fixing it is easier than you think – especially if you skip the old, messy wax ring.

Wax-free seals let you reset your toilet multiple times, so even if you don’t get it right the first time, you won’t have to buy a new ring and start over.

Visit Korky.com to get a wax free seal today.

Have you ever plunged your sink or toilet and the clog didn’t budge? Most of the time, it’s not the clog, it’s the tool or the technique.

If you picture a toilet plunger, you’re probably imagining the classic red cup, but that’s a sink plunger vs toilet plunger. Sink plungers are designed for flat drains and toilet plungers are designed for round or elongated bowls. That’s why you need two plungers.
