Recent storms have brought some heavy winds across the area, and with that we’re seeing quite a few trees failing, splitting, and uprooting.

This tree split at the trunk and fell onto the client’s storage building. Our team safely removed the portion resting on the structure, then finished removing the remaining compromised tree to prevent any further damage.

A few trees uprooted from the storm 2 nights ago. Our crew will get this one removed tomorrow, along with grinding a few additional stumps for the customer while we’re on site.

Heavy rain and saturated soil can quickly weaken and expose rotted root systems. This can increase the risk of trees uprooting or failing unexpectedly. If you have any trees leaning, showing exposed roots, dead limbs, cracks, or signs of decay, now is a good time to have them inspected before they become a bigger hazard.

Our team finished up another 75’ French drain today. We installed a catch basin along with perforated, sleeved drain pipe to ensure proper water flow. The pipe was surrounded with permeable rock and topped with geo-fabric to help filter debris and maintain long-term performance.

After installation, we restored the area with existing grass and decomposed granite for a clean, finished look. This system was installed to prevent water from pooling and to protect the lower areas of the homes from water intrusion.

Thankfully we’ve avoided the high winds that usually bring widespread tree damage. However, we are seeing issues from the heavy moisture, specifically uprooting and structural failure in some hackberries.

Excess water in the soil, combined with moisture collecting in weak crotches (especially where rot is already present), is leading to failures we’re seeing across multiple properties.

If you have trees you’re concerned about, signs like fungus at the base of the trunk or in main crotches are worth getting inspected. Nearly every tree we’ve worked on recently showed warning signs that could’ve been caught before failure.

Today our team removed a hazardous hackberry from a client’s backyard today. One limb had already failed and was resting on the roof, and several others showed stress cracks along with heavy mistletoe infestation at the joints.

When a tree poses a risk, especially in an area where your kids may be playing; it’s just not worth waiting. Glad we could make this backyard safe again for the family.

Now’s a great time for acreage tractor mowing—this recent rain has the grass growing fast. We knocked out a little over 6 acres in Leander today, including mowing and w**d eating fence lines.
