Satire So Sharp It Could Trigger a Safe Space
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In an emotional press conference that left staffers handing out tissues like participation trophies, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries was visibly fighting back tears Thursday after learning that President Trump and Israel had “taken out” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — the man Democrats once quietly called “a stabilizing voice against orange chaos.”
“Will Democrat Politicians Host a Candlelight Vigil For Their Beloved Iranian Dictator?” the viral meme asked, perfectly capturing the mood as Jeffries dabbed his eyes and muttered, “This is a dark day… he was literally just trying to enrich uranium for science.”
Sources say Jeffries and other top Democrats — who spent all morning denouncing the U.S.-Israel strikes as “reckless warmongering” and “an illegal assassination” — are now scrambling to book Lafayette Park for a solemn candlelight vigil honoring “our dear friend in Tehran.”
“He wasn’t perfect,” Jeffries reportedly told aides while staring wistfully at a photo of Khamenei, “but at least he never posted mean memes about diversity, equity, and inclusion. This is worse than when they canceled ‘The View’ for a day.”
Other Democrats quickly joined the mourning parade. Rep. Ilhan Omar tweeted, “Khamenei was a champion for women’s rights… if you ignore the hijab police, the morality squads, and the public hangings,” while Sen. Bernie Sanders called for “a moment of silence and maybe some free healthcare for whatever mullahs are left.”
At press time, organizers were finalizing vigil details, including a special guest appearance by CodePink activists waving “Bring Back the Ayatollah — He Was Literally Just Protecting Trans Rights in Tehran” signs.
