Plant for Fall and Beyond
September is an excellent time to add new plants to your landscape. With cooler temperatures and more consistent moisture, newly planted trees, shrubs, and perennials have an opportunity to establish their root systems before winter arrives.
Fall planting can also be a great way to add seasonal interest to your landscape. Consider incorporating ornamental grasses, fall-blooming perennials, or trees and shrubs with vibrant autumn foliage. When selecting new plants, be sure to choose varieties that are well suited to your Michigan growing zone and the conditions of your specific landscape.
Planting in September gives your landscape a head start on next year's growing season, while also adding beauty and interest during the transition into fall.
