Plant for Fall and Beyond
September is an excellent time to add new plants to your landscape. With cooler temperatures and more consistent moisture, newly planted trees, shrubs, and perennials have an opportunity to establish their root systems before winter arrives.

Fall planting can also be a great way to add seasonal interest to your landscape. Consider incorporating ornamental grasses, fall-blooming perennials, or trees and shrubs with vibrant autumn foliage. When selecting new plants, be sure to choose varieties that are well suited to your Michigan growing zone and the conditions of your specific landscape.

Planting in September gives your landscape a head start on next year's growing season, while also adding beauty and interest during the transition into fall.

Here’s an update on one of the properties we have been honored to work on! 🏡🌿🌳

This spring, we finished installing the large trees throughout the property and moved on to the garden beds surrounding the red barn at the entrance. It’s only been a few months, but everything is already growing in beautifully—and, like any well-designed landscape, it will only get better with time. We also added Slatescape and landscape edging to give the beds a clean, finished look while making them easier to maintain.

We love watching a landscape evolve and seeing the vision come to life! 🌱

It’s running! 💧🪨

After rebuilding, moving massive stones, battling rain, and working through some challenging access, we finally got to turn the water back on—and we couldn’t be happier with how this waterfall turned out!

We’re pretty stoked to see it flowing again, and even more excited that everyone visiting this business park can now enjoy the sights and sounds of the water. 🌊

And guess what? The minnows have already discovered the new stream! 🐟😂It’s always rewarding to see a water feature come back to life—and even better when nature starts moving in right away!

Large waterfall update!
We spent the day foaming the waterfall rocks and grading the edges, and things are really starting to come together. Before we can turn the water on, we still need to reseam the upper pond liner to the concrete weir to make sure everything is properly sealed. We're getting close - We can't wait to see this thing running again!

We’re getting close to the finish line on this epic waterfall rebuild! The waterfall rocks are set, and we’re wrapping up the final details before this thing is ready to flow. After all the work that has gone into rebuilding this feature, we’re really excited to turn the water back on and see how it all comes together!

Give Your Pond a Late Summer Checkup
As August comes to an end, take a few minutes to give your pond a closer look. Late summer is an important time to make sure your pond is prepared for the changing conditions ahead.

Check your skimmer basket and filter pads for accumulated debris, make sure your pump is running properly, and remove any excess leaves or organic matter that may have collected in the pond. This is also a good time to inspect aquatic plants and trim back any dead or overgrown foliage.

A little maintenance now can help keep your pond healthy through the remainder of summer and make the transition into fall much easier.

A backyard retreat built for summer memories. 🌿🔥

This natural stone landscape transforms a simple slope into multiple outdoor living spaces designed for gathering and relaxing.

From the upper flagstone patio with comfortable lounge seating to the lower circular fire pit area, every level invites you to slow down and enjoy the outdoors. Natural stone steps connect the spaces, while layered plantings and blooming hydrangeas bring color, texture, and life to the landscape.

A place for morning coffee, summer evenings, and memories made around the fire. ✨

Building a waterfall isn’t just about controlling where the water flows inside the liner—it’s also about managing what happens outside the liner. 💧🪨

To help protect this newly constructed waterfall from erosion and water damage, we’re installing French drains along the edges. These drains collect excess groundwater and redirect it into the pond rather than allowing it to flow underneath the rockwork.

It’s one of those details you may never notice when the waterfall is finished—but it plays an important role in protecting the structure and helping it last for years to come.

POV: You're trying to make a video and you get photobombed by your boss. 😂

We've finished setting the waterfall stones and have attached the liner to the concrete weir, just a few more steps and we'll be ready to see this thing flowing!

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at how we see the hidden potential of rocks. We can't wait to see how it all turns out when we get water flowing again!
