Produce vegetables to take home or practice what you learn to grow at home in summer It is planted in stages so there is produce available all summer. The produce from our garden is available to anyone from the community. There are no requirements to help weed, water or work in the garden, but if you enjoy that sort of thing, we'd LOVE your help. We are always looking for more co

mmunity members to join our committee. We meet at 3:00pm on the second Monday of each month. Meetings are held at the Community Garden during nice weather or at Caledonia Vine Street Church (250 Vine St.) Contact us today at 616-891-8669 to learn how you can become involved.

OUR BUTTERNUT NOT READY TILL OCTOBER. Butternut squash plants are annuals grown through spring and summer. While they can take around 110 days to mature, they also need about two weeks of curing in the sun if you plan to store them. Count backward from your first frost date to be sure you allow enough time for both growth and curing.

Lots of Basil plus dill. Tomatoes and cabbage in field.Broccoli have those leaves for soup. Swiss chard.

The Foraging class planned for July 22nd 6pm is rescheduled for Aug 5td 6PM.

Plan and evening to learn basics of Foraging. In olden days, foraging meant collecting fruits, flowers, branches for food on land you did or did not own.

In addition there was foraging of plants for medicinal purposes. For example .To use plantain for bee stings, remove the stinger from the skin and chew a few plantain leaves in your mouth.
