🎅Santa arrived at the 𝗦𝘁. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆'𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 in his shiny red helicopter today. He received a warm welcome from the children who were gathered to meet him! Then he visited with many of the AeroPark Farmer's Market local vendors, selling their wares to Christmas shoppers! It was a great day for everyone who was there!

The new facility is also expected to be a catalyst for economic activity and job growth in the region. Check out this great photo of the world's only privately owned Sea Harrier flying the "World's Fastest Bourbon" over the To***co Barn Distillery in Hollywood, MD during last Saturday's "700 MPH Bourbon Flight"
This is the Sea Harrier, known as the “SHAR.” It is a single-engine, single-seat Vertical, Short, Takeoff and Landing (VSTOL) fighter, designed specifically for service with the British Royal Navy and operations aboard ship. The specially designed custom drop tanks featured original artwork by renowned artist Hank Caruso. They look great, don't they?

On Saturday (August 28th) guests at the "700mph Bourbon Flight" saw three “Bourbon-Aviation” World Records set at St. Mary’s County Airport, Maryland!
• Highest altitude for aging Bourbon in a barrel
• Fastest airspeed for aging Bourbon in a barrel
• Lowest atmospheric pressure for aging Bourbon in a barrel
Attendees were treated to a static display of AV-8 Harrier with Bourbon Barrels loaded in Drop Tanks as well as L-39 chase jet. They also enjoyed an opportunity to meet and discuss the flight with Test Pilot Art Nalls who flies the only privately owned Sea Harrier in the world.
To***co Barn bourbon distillers Dan Dawson, Scott Sanders, and Sean Coogan were also present along with world-renowned artist Hank Caruso who created the “700 MPH Bourbon” Aerocature™

The Innovation District designation includes the St Mary’s County Regional Airport, the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland existing facilities with the addition of the new SMART building, the University of Maryland Unmanned Aerial System Test Site, the TechPort business accelerator, a variety of specialized aviation and aeronautic companies as well as the adjacent Wildewood Professional and Technology Park, retail areas, and the industrial area along Airport View Drive.

"When Northrop Grumman showcased its new, optionally manned Firebird aircraft by flying it to locations across the United States, the St. Mary’s County Regional Airport—home to the University of Maryland (UMD) UAS Test Site as well as TechPort, an incubator launched by UMD—was one of five stops chosen.
The selection highlights Southern Maryland’s growing role as a hub for the burgeoning unmanned aviation industry, as well as the continued significance of Naval Air Station Patuxent River. ”We have a lot of people in St. Mary’s who are involved at some level in the industry, whether as aviators, entrepreneurs, or enthusiasts,” notes Matt Scassero, director of the UMD UAS Test Site. “Naturally there was a great deal of interest in the opportunity to see this new aircraft in person.”
