Woolly Star Ranch

Woolly Star Ranch I am a homesteader/Youtuber in the beautiful mountains of So. California. I raise sheep, chickens, geese, ducks & turkeys.

I share garden/propagation & homestead how to’s & create garden art out of repurposed materials. Hi there, I’m Ann, an urban micro farmer/homesteader in Southern CA. I love organic gardening, family time and raising backyard chickens and quail. Expect to see on my page: plant medicine, product reviews, how to's, and interviews from the world of sustainable farming and alternative medicine.

This past summer has been brutally hot. We had 100° weather. It seemed like the whole month of August. Thankfully, today is a bit cooler, but we aren’t out of summer yet. There are three things we practice on the Woolly Star Ranch to keep our animals cool in summer.

1. Keep animals hydrated
2. Cooling snacks (Fruits/Veggies)
3. Shade Cloths (these are 50% shade)

It can actually make the difference between life and death animals without proper summer heat care. Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate you all so much.

In this video, I was showing you how I used grocery store Ginger to grow ginger plants. I was blessed with this Ginger through a group that supplies produce and meats that would otherwise be thrown into the landfill and supplies them to farmers and ranchers. I am so grateful for all they do for us. This box of Ginger costed me one dollar and I am hoping to grow much much more Ginger from it. Thank you Trenton Terrell and

I was sent this beautiful hummingbird feeder from a company called Grete Gotye to try in my garden, I put it up and the hummers loved it!

There’s something so magical about watching hummingbirds visit the garden, and I’m always happy to give them another place to stop by. I also love my hummingbird feeders to provide food for my hummingbirds when the weather makes it tough for them to find food.

Come along as I test out this new feeder and see how much my little garden visitors approve!

Thank you to Grete Gotye for sending me this hummingbird feeder to try. This video reflects my honest experience and opinions.

Well, we did it again… we adopted another batch of orphaned animals. A friend’s sow had some Mangalitsa piglets and refused to nurse them, she bottle fed them for 3 weeks before they came to the Woolly Star.

Currently, the two small ones are about the size of a turkey chub (they probably weigh about 5 lbs full 😂 and their bigger sister is probably about 7 lbs - need to weigh them). It’s amazing how much intensity something so little has😂 They have great energy and are thriving💚🕊️
