We laid #89 limestone gravel within the existing curbs, used a power rake to smooth out the larger bumps, and then finished the job by hand-raking the entire driveway for a clean, even surface.

Concrete has great compressive strength but poor tensile strength (resistance to bending).

Adding rebar drastically improves tensile strength, prevents separation after cracking and increases the load the concrete can handle.

We add rebar to EVERY slab we pour, even concrete curbs like the ones we poured today!

If you saw our previous post, here is the finished product! Everything came together and we knocked this out just in time for daily rain. Hopefully the county will dig out the ditches soon.

This thing is solid, we installed a grid of #4 rebar, tying the mitered ends to the apron. The pour averaged about 7 inches thick and even though we used rebar we still added fiber mesh to the 3500psi mix!

The most important part of a culvert installation is the base! Needless to say, we don't dig out the ditch, roll the culvert in, and throw some hardpan on it!

We install a bedding with #57 stone, get the grade right, then drop the pipe in. Once it's in, we wrap it with more gravel and roadbase. There is a correct way, and there is a cheap way! If we are installing anything, it's the correct way.

This was a fun project from this past week. We touched up an old asphalt millings driveway, built up the front yard, and tilled some topsoil in with the sandy fill. We even had a Yulee deer come investigate!

This is a project that one of our sitework clients just took over. We are going to put together another video outlining the importance of this data but the short of it is this - they needed to know the area of the pond and an approximate number of remaining truck loads that can be excavated and hauled off.

We used a combination of photogrammetry, LiDAR and design tools to compare the existing to a design we created. They just received their permit and are digging away! In a few weeks we will collect our first progress flight.
