The Galante Architecture Studio, Inc.

The Galante Architecture Studio, Inc. An innovative architecture studio pursuing excellence in design, construction, and urban planning. The firm has been honored with many awards and publications.

The Galante Architecture Studio (TGAS) works from two locations, Cambridge, MA, and New York City. Our work consists of new construction, alterations and additions, feasibility studies and master planning. We are fortunate to count major cities and institutions among our client base, including: Amtrak, Boston, Boston Fire Department, Cambridge, Harvard University, New York City, FDNY, and many oth

ers. Our work is a careful blend of contemporary design within a given context. We take program elements and sort out spatial needs, adjacency relationships, and volumetric conditions to arrive at multiple design options. These are communicated via customary architectural drawings, but also physical models, computer models, renderings and alternative media. Upon presenting renderings to one of the Vice President’s at Harvard University, she responded “a brilliant solution to an impossible design problem.” This solution was built to exacting standards with similar praise upon completion. The Galante Architecture Studio has become a specialist in respectfully integrating new projects into historic contexts. Our libraries built in small New England towns were initially approached with uncertainty. As the design developed, and now after successful completion, each town is proud of their new facility and how it contributes to the overall context. 90% of our clients are repeat clients and are ardent supporters of the practice. Our track record for precise cost estimating is very strong. We have experienced licensed contractors on staff, as well as ongoing discussions with project contractors. Our cost estimating strategies include detailed quantity surveys providing a full accounting of all elements, sending documents to contractors during design development to confirm costs, and employing add alternates during bidding to manage bids and to ultimately lead to a successful award and project completion. As LEED Accredited Professionals we specialize in sustainable practices and guide clients through the myriad of building and energy code requirements for their projects. We have designed and installed Photovoltaic Panels, Solar Hot Water Panels, Rapidly Renewable materials, and many other types of sustainable strategies. We’ve been successfully integrating elements like this since well before they were required.

Check out our project profile at The Beauty of Block!

Dennis Fire Station 2 is organized into three volumes: a two-story, shingle-clad section with administrative offices and living quarters; a double-height apparatus bay volume with three double-loaded bays and mezzanine storage; and a single-story volume housing a firefighters’ training room and a 60-seat community room. The project blends and brick veneer with Cape Cod–style shingles and a gabled roof, balancing the town’s character with fire station design.

Construction at Exeter’s new Public Safety Building continues to speed along. The car canopy has been framed just behind the main building. In addition to protecting police department vehicles from the elements, the canopy will be topped with panels, providing energy to the building.

TGAS completed the Central Fire Station Headquarters for Davenport, IA back in 2016. Tasked with improving the oldest operating fire station west of the Mississippi River, our team designed a state-of-the-art addition that incorporated and preserved the original 1902 building. The new structure looks toward Davenport’s bright future, while respecting the history of this historic station. Central Fire Station Headquarters has received several awards, including the F.I.E.R.O. Conference Popular Choice Award and Fire Station Design Excellence Award.

This red enclosure won second place in ATAS’s 2025 project of the year, which recognizes metal building envelopes. Located at the Cambridge Fire Department Headquarters, our enclosure design was awarded in ATAS’s Accent category. The multifaceted screen adds visual interest to the community while also providing a protective enclosure for the fire department’s new, adjacent power station. Inspired by the work of our affiliate company, Galante Design Studio, our design team envisioned a metal screen with a cutout map of the fire department's surrounding area.
