Building on Camden’s history—and investing in its future.

We’re proud to celebrate site plan approval for a new 64-unit affordable family housing community in Camden’s Waterfront South neighborhood.

Located along Broadway at the edge of the South Camden Historic District, the proposed development will transform the site of a former mill into a mix of townhomes and a four-story mixed-use building.

This milestone marks an important step toward revitalizing the site, expanding affordable housing opportunities, and building on the momentum of this historic neighborhood.

We’re grateful to The Michaels Organization and The Heart of Camden for their partnership and commitment to bringing this vision to life.

Urban Practice is proud to once again participate in Canstruction, an incredible competition that proves great design can make a meaningful impact on our community.

Together with The Michaels Organization, our team designed and built "Ringing in the Sound of Sustenance," recreating the iconic Liberty Bell with 3,600 cans of food, all of which will be donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey to help fight hunger in our region.

Canstruction brings together architects, engineers, designers, and students to create imaginative sculptures made entirely from unopened canned goods. At the conclusion of the exhibit, every can is donated to support local families facing food insecurity.

If you're visiting Deptford Mall, stop by and see all of the amazing creations on display through July 12!

🏆 We'd love your support in the Fan Favorite competition! Simply enter your name and email, then select Option 3 – "Ringing in the Sound of Sustenance."

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's build possible, and to the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors who continue to make Canstruction such a meaningful tradition.

At the recent NJBIZ Leaders in Real Estate, Construction and Design awards ceremony, Urban Practice accepted the Top Project Award for Oliver Station alongside developer The Michaels Organization.

This innovative mixed-use community in Camden's Whitman Park neighborhood comprises 47 affordable housing units for individuals 55 and older, atop a 5,200-square-foot primary care office operated by Virtua Health.

In addition to the healthcare facility, the community also offers a 1,000-square-foot kitchenette and community room, a laundry room, and a fitness center for residents.

It is the first community in South Jersey and the second in the state to benefit from the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency’s (NJHMFA) Hospital Partnership Subsidy Program.

The NJBIZ Top Project Awards look back at the work accomplished in the state, recognizing how these plans and projects remade the landmarks of the past or established those of the future.

Director of Interior Design Melissa Mayer and Specification & Procurement Manager Erin Brumbley recently attended HD Expo + Conference in Las Vegas—one of the hospitality industry’s leading events for product discovery, emerging trends, and collaboration across design, procurement, and manufacturing.

From sculptural lighting, decorative fixtures, and hospitality-inspired outdoor furnishings to layered materials, tactile fabrics, architectural textures, and biophilic design elements, the experience offered valuable insight into the ideas shaping the future of hospitality and multifamily environments.

Throughout the week, Melissa and Erin connected with industry partners, explored emerging manufacturers, and sourced innovative solutions that support Urban Practice’s commitment to creating thoughtful, experience-driven spaces.

Across the show floor, a clear theme emerged: spaces are becoming more immersive, memorable, and emotionally connected—balancing elevated aesthetics with comfort, functionality, and a strong sense of place.
