Did you know that from 1916, the original Bensberg's Music Shop was located at 122 Jefferson Ave in Camden? Unfortunately, that building was destroyed to make room for the new Farmer's B&T main branch. So, every time you sit in the front office waiting for your new debit card, you might be in the exact location where someone heard recorded music for the first time. Look close in the photo and you'll see the reflection of the Arnold & Doyle building built in the 1920's across the street as well as the broken stained glass from a stray baseball in the Bensberg's street sign (repaired shortly after).
G.J. Bensberg was a pioneer in South Arkansas making recorded music accessible to everyone. From G.J. to his son, Thomas Edison Bensberg, to the Hardens, and now, the Kirksey's, Bensberg has had only four owners in 110 years.
After researching, we believe we are the nation's oldest constantly operated company of our kind.
