Just a little in field "maintenance" going on. We had a drive motor go bad and decided, (due to hours on the machine), to rebuild the pumps, pump drive box and planetary gear bearings. By dark last night we had it running. Today we just have to do some fine tuning and we'll be back to plowing in tile.

I don't know how the Ag Census shows a decline in drainage. We've had some of our best years recently???

Some Midwest states reported a reduction in acreage of subsurface tile drainage from 2017 to 2022.

Did ya ever have one of those "days"? Well, we had one of those "jobs". The first 3 weeks we installed over 200,000 feet, but it was all downhill after that. We ended up having to replace several large county drains that were not in the plans. That resulted in several more weeks of just repairing and re-connecting mains, laterals and installing catch basins. Constant rain delays didn't help either. Today should be the last day.

We are currently working on a large project near Charlotte, MI.
160 acres splitting old tile lines that are too far apart. Some of the new spacings are 22ft - 25 ft apart now. It has went pretty good so far thanks to some good help, including my brother Joe, running the excavator.

We finally got the big plow going and then the rain starts. We were going pretty good on this 12" main until we hit the water.

We took a break to do some long overdue maintenance to the Bron. The drive sprockets and top rollers were wore out. Looks like we will replace the rest of the undercarriage this winter, along with some other major wear items, and a new paint job is on the list.

We just wrapped up the last "spring" job that was waiting to be planted. We have more lined up to do, but we're taking some time to catch up on much needed maintenance and repairs before hitting the field again.

It's been a challenging spring, as usual, but we are loaded and ready to move on to the next job!

Well, we have to pick our days, but we are finally getting back in the field. We have 55 rolls of tile to get though to finish this job. (That's 187,000 ft or 35 miles, if you're counting)

A couple of weeks ago we went to Vegas to see Con-Expo 2023. It was larger than ever and is hard to describe the vast amount of equipment on hand for the show.
