A lot has changed in the last 40 years for Westphal Roofing including the locations of our shops, first at Terry’s house, then to our shop on Hwy SS and now back to our house. One thing has not changed however, our unwavering desire for truth and integrity for our community through our services.

A homeowner wanted an inspection for their roof (pictured) another contractor was there before me, I replied with a “that’s great, what was there findings.” The homeowner said it was suggested they put a new roof on soon. After walking the roof, fixing a couple pipe boot gaskets and briefing them on a couple minor fixes. I gave them the news, their roof is fine and doesn’t need to be replaced for at least a few more years. Could have I spun a tale and convinced them otherwise, sure, but my conscience wouldn’t allow it. Does that make me a poor salesman, I suppose that is subjective to your own thoughts.

As for now, as we celebrate 40 years of service to our community, I feel it’s safe to say, we must be doing something right.

Ice, it’s fun to fish on (ice fishing), it’s fun to drink from (cocktails), it’s fun to walk on (curling and ice skating), however, it’s not fun when it wrecks your house causing damage from leaks. Ice dams are a progressive formation inhibiting the shedding of water off a roof and can force water into the envelope of the structure. Telltale signs of intrusion is ice and water coming out of the soffit, down the siding or windows and of course, water coming into the interior of the structure. Make sure you are inspecting the outside of your home or business for these signs and hopefully you can catch it before it starts causing damage to the interior. Call us to melt away the ice dams with low pressure steam to prevent damage to your roof from other more primitive methods of removing an ice dam.

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen a “real” winter as we’ve been saying, 3 years to be exact.
I remember going through voicemails in the airport in Grand Cayman in mid January, laying out the strategy for taking on the ice dams which were mounting up and causing damage. I confidently say this year will be no exception and actually a little ahead of schedule from previous years.
Well, second verse will be the same as first, if you have an ice dam, we are still here, loaded down, tuned up and ready to roll out to take care of your ice dam removal needs… gently and with steam of course.
Until we can bury our toes in the sand once more, lean on us to melt away your winter worries.

9 years ago today Westphal Roofing became a second generation business. Boy we sure have changed, this yellow shirt no longer fits me, my hair is gray but the look on my face hasn’t changed when my mom says “you be careful up there!” Thank you to our community who has supported our business and found value in Terry’s moto, “we do it right or we don’t do it at all.” Your patronage means the world to us!

Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you. We hope you have a blessed Christmas and find room in your hearts for the reason for the season, Jesus Christ, who was wrapped in cloths and laid in a manger and soon became the King of Kings who would die for the sins of this world so we would be saved from our own shortfalls and be reunited in paradise for eternity.
