A flashback to one of our early South Bay courtyard transformations.

The goal was simple: create a space that feels effortless in the evening — structured during the day, intimate at night.

Clean-lined paving.
A custom pergola for scale and shelter.
Integrated lighting that brings the architecture to life after sunset.

Projects like this remind us that great outdoor spaces aren’t about excess — they’re about proportion, material restraint, and how a space feels at 8:30pm with the fire on.

We’re officially in the build phase on this project, and it’s one of those backyards we can’t wait to bring to life. 🔥

This space features two standout outdoor living elements:
• A sunken lounge deck with integrated fire pit seating—designed for long evenings, conversation, and warmth
• A covered outdoor kitchen and dining area, perfect for entertaining year-round

Seeing these elements come together on site is always the best part of the process. More to come as this one takes shape—stay tuned.

Our beloved horticulturalist Laurie W. captured this moment beautifully—an Almaden Valley front yard coming together with layered plantings, a gorgeous bluestone edger, and large Connecticut full-range stepping stones that bring both structure and ease.

It’s a reminder that thoughtful materials + restrained planting can completely transform a home’s first impression—quiet, natural, and timeless.
