Sometimes an overgrown bed just needs a clean slate. We cleared out tired boxwoods and gave this Northville home a fresh start with new hydrangeas set in a triangle near the entry, purple blazing stars up front, and deep brown mulch for a neat finish.

The thick mulch layer helps keep weeds down and locks in moisture for the young plants. All that's left is for the homeowner to add their ferns where they please.
