recently completed (4) drilled shafts for a bridge abutment on a grade separation project in Central Ohio.

Working in extremely tight conditions, the crew installed 36” diameter shafts with 5’ rock sockets, reaching depths of 120’ with 115’ through overburden. All work was performed adjacent to active rail with zero service interruption, and at clearances as tight as just 3 inches from an existing retaining wall.

This was a job that required careful planning from the start and precision every step of the way. In the end, it was the strength and focus of the field team that made it all come together.

The Beaver Excavating Co., in partnership with our design team from Michael Baker International, has successfully reached a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the JEF‑7‑25.63 Mine Subsidence Restoration Project.

Through close collaboration with the Ohio Department of Transportation, our Progressive Design‑Build Team has reached this major milestone and is set to commence construction early this month.

The project scope includes the installation of a land bridge spanning portions of the “Little Giant Mine”, formerly operated by the Toronto Fire Clay Co. A complex effort that highlights innovation, teamwork, and strategic engineering.

We’re proud of the collaboration and excited to move forward into construction.

Beaver has successfully completed the bridge deck pours at the historic Blaine Hill US-40 Bridge, marking a major milestone for both Beaver and ODOT as the project moves closer to reopening to the traveling public on schedule. Despite battling harsh winter conditions, crews pushed through to get the substructure and beams in place, making this achievement possible.

This progress reflects the hard work, dedication, and pride of as we move one step closer to bringing this historic structure back to life. More to come as the next phase takes shape.
