We just wrapped up this partial kitchen kitchen remodel! The conversation was initially just refinishing the cabinetry with new counters & backsplash.
But the narrow island in the middle of the kitchen made the space restrictive & clumsy.
Working with the existing cabinetry, we reimagined the kitchen. We relocated the island to the perimeter of the kitchen, taking advantage of some underutilized space between the living room & kitchen. This allowed us to double the size of the island, while simultaneously doubling the floor space in the kitchen. The expanded island allowed us to accommodate a prep sink, & 16” overhang on two sides for casual dining. Then we thickened the island to 2” with mitered edges for more of a presence.
Quartzite was installed at the counters, but also at the backsplash for a grander feel. Then under-cabinet lighting was installed to really showcase the expanse of the natural stone.
We also installed wooden rollout drawers at the base cabinets, for better organization & utilization of space.
The project concluded with refinishing the hardwood floors across the entire first floor for a dramatic update.
