The summer fertilizer ban is over. Here's what your lawn needs now. 🌱

From June through September, Lee County restricts nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer to protect our waterways. If your lawn looks thin, pale, or patchy right now, that's a big part of why.

October is the window to fix it before the dry season:

✅ Feed it. A proper fall application rebuilds color and density.
✅ Check for webworms and armyworms. Brown patches that look "mowed too short" are a classic sign this time of year.
✅ Adjust your irrigation. Rainy season is ending, so your lawn needs your sprinklers again.

Not sure what's going on with yours? Comment LAWN and we'll message you about a free lawn check.

Our Coastal Lawn & Pest and Coastal Irrigation & Plumbing family is proud to wear pink this October. 🌸

Southwest Florida is more than where we work. It's our home, and the people here are our neighbors, our customers, and our families. This month we stand with everyone fighting breast cancer, the survivors who inspire us, and the families who've lost someone they love.

A great cause in honor of a truly special person. Jenny was one of the best pest control operators around. She had a real passion for grass, plants, and trees, and she cared deeply about providing the best possible service to every customer.

Jenny was never a quitter. She could outwork anyone, and she brought compassion and professionalism to everything she did. She was one of Coastal Lawn & Pest Control’s most valuable team members, and she will be truly missed.

We will always be thinking of you, Jenny.

🌦️ El Niño Is Here — What Does That Mean for Your Florida Lawn?

Southwest Florida lawns could be heading into a challenging stretch.

NOAA is forecasting a strengthening El Niño, while Florida is also favored to experience above-normal temperatures heading into fall. As we move toward winter, El Niño typically shifts Florida toward wetter and cooler conditions.

🌱 So what does that mean for your lawn?

☀️ Extended heat can keep turf stressed longer.
Warm temperatures increase water demand and can extend the period when lawns are dealing with heat, insects and other summer stresses.

🌧️ Then excess winter moisture can create a different problem.
Persistently wet soil and reduced drying time can increase conditions favorable for turf disease, root stress and fungal activity.

🌡️ Rapid weather changes matter, too.
A lawn already stressed from an extended hot season may be more vulnerable when temperatures and moisture levels change.

💧 Irrigation may need to change with the weather.
Running the same watering schedule through a wetter winter can lead to unnecessary irrigation and overly saturated soil.

The takeaway?

Florida lawn care shouldn't stay on the same program year-round.

Monitoring turf conditions, adjusting irrigation, and treating problems based on what the lawn actually needs can make a major difference as our weather changes.

We load the truck like this so we don't have to tell you "we'll have to come back."

Ants, roaches, mosquitoes, spiders, rodents — it's on the truck. One visit, one price, no second trip while you're still living with it.

Book your first service and we'll walk the whole property, not just the room you called about. 🐜

Your pest guy sprayed. You can't see spray.

This is the part you can see — and it's the part most companies skip when they're behind schedule.

Eaves, soffits, door frames, window frames, lanai cage. Every service. You're pulling egg sacs and harborage off the structure, not just the web.

Spiders rebuild in the same spots. A broom clears today. Clearing the sacs and treating the harborage is what makes it stop.

The mosquitos biting you didn't come from the canal. They came from your ornamentals.

Barrier treatment handles the adults sitting in your landscaping. It doesn't touch the next batch — and in Southwest Florida, the next batch is hatching in your own yard.

Plants can be a container breeder. It doesn't need a swamp. It needs about a bottle cap of standing water:

🦟 Bromeliad cups
🦟 Saucers under potted plants
🦟 Clogged gutters
🦟 Bird baths
🦟 Folds in a pool cover or tarp
🦟 Kids' toys left in the grass

Roughly 8–10 days from water to biting adult. Dump anything holding water once a week and you cut the population off at the source.

Treatment handles today. Dumping water handles next week. You need both.
