🏡✨ Giving new life to a home built in 1850! 🎨🪵

This exterior repaint needed much more than just a fresh coat of paint. 👀

The wood log-cabin siding had originally been painted directly over bare wood without primer (only 6 years ago!), which led to widespread peeling, chipping, and paint failure. 🪵⚠️ We scraped and sanded the failing areas, then primed the exposed wood with Richard’s Holzout Primer before repainting. 🧰🪜🎨

One of the brick walls also had mismatched paint from previous patches, along with areas of chipping and flaking. 🧱 We scraped, sanded, and spot-primed the damaged areas with Holzout, then repainted the entire wall to match the adjacent brick on the front of the home. The result was a much cleaner, more seamless transition. ✨🏠

The covered patio ceiling had similar paint failure because the bare wood had never been properly primed. 🌤️ After scraping and sanding away the loose paint, we applied an oil-based primer before repainting the ceiling. 🪵🖌️

Proper surface preparation and the right primer make all the difference—especially when protecting a historic home that has stood for more than 175 years! 💪🏡🎨✨

🏠 Today’s progress: spot priming the bare wood on this wood-sided home after scraping and sanding.

🖌️ Sealing these exposed areas before applying the finish coats helps promote proper adhesion, reduce uneven absorption, and provide better long-term protection.

✅ The prep work may not be the most noticeable part of the finished project, but it is one of the most important.

This one was no easy task… but the results made every drop of sweat worth it! 💪☀️

Our process:
✅ Thorough pressure washing to remove dirt, chalking, and contaminants
✅ Primed the entire brick exterior with Richard’s Paint Holzout Primer for maximum adhesion and a long-lasting finish
✅ Applied two full coats of Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec 500 Exterior for beautiful, durable coverage

We definitely earned this one! 🥵 Battling the heat wave while working on a full brick exterior wasn’t easy, but we stayed committed to doing the job the right way—not the fast way.
