I dont know about you, but im thankful its been dry for a little while now, we sure got a lot of rain over the summer! ⛈️

While we have some dry down time, here's some helpful tips of things you can do to avoid those dreaded "OH NOOOOO" moments due to heavy rain:

✅️ Clean out gutters and downspouts so water flows away from your foundation
✅️ Make sure storm drains around your home arent blocked by leaves or other debris
✅️ Test your sump pump BEFORE it rains to ensure it works properly
✅️ Clear leaves and dirt from basement window wells to keep pooling water from pressing against basement windows
✅️ Adjust the yard grade within 10 ft from your home so the ground slopes downward away from the foundation

💥 Willis Carrier (our favorite guy lol) invented air conditioning in 1902, but its purpose initially wasn't to cool you off- it was actually created for Sackett & Wilhelms Lithographing and Publishing Company 😱 they were repeatedly running into issues where the high humidity would warp the paper and cause their prints to be ruined.

💥 Charles Gilber Gates was the first residential customer to have air conditioning in his home in Minneapolis in 1913.

💥 The White House had its first air conditioning installed in 1929 under President Herbert Hoover. It was only initially in the oval office. Central heating and air wasn't installed until between 1948-1952, during Harry S Truman's administration.

Ok this fact is actually mind blowing 🤯

Everyone has used Draino right? Have you ever had to use it multiple times for the same clog? 🤔
Turns out Draino & similar drain clearing products are good for a "one and done" type situation (a small clog that comes clear after one use), but using Draino multiple times can actually cause MORE problems!! 😱

Using drain clearing products repeatedly can:
-cause the clog to go deeper in the pipes if it doesn't get it all the first time
-cause sludge or grease to harden in your pipes
