I just spent a few days in Wyoming and was in awe of the amazing designed landscapes that I encountered. The quaking aspens and wild lupine are such an incredible plant combination that can be used here in New England. The purple blooms of the lupine contrast nicely with the smooth white aspen bark. And as a bonus, the aspens also give you stunning yellow fall foliage. A beautiful addition to any New England landscape!

🌿 One of our favorite native ground covers: Pachysandra procumbens (Allegheny Spurge).

Unlike its better-known cousin, Japanese pachysandra (Pachysandra terminalis), which can spread aggressively and crowd out other plants, Allegheny Spurge is a well-behaved native that plays nicely in the landscape.

While it isn't evergreen, it forms a beautiful carpet of foliage in shady spaces and thrives under trees, along foundations, around shrubs, and beside walkways. A great choice for adding texture, seasonal interest, and ecological value to those tricky shade gardens.

Native, adaptable, and shade-loving...what's not to love? 🌿

You know the season has arrived when the Rhododendrons start blooming! And these hardworking shrubs do so much more than just flower.
Here is why we love them:

• Rhododendrons brighten shady spaces where many plants struggle.
• They are semi-evergreen, which provides structure for year-round interest.
• The flowers come in an incredible range of colors, from soft pastels to bold jewel tones.
• And lastly, they are reliable, long-lived plants that will ground and anchor your landscape.

These are three favorites that we place in gardens again and again:

PJM - tough, dependable, and cold-hardy with showy purple-pink flowers in spring and a compact upright habit. Perfect for New England gardens, which makes sense because this variety was developed by Weston Nurseries, right here in MA!

Percy Wiseman - beautiful color shifts in spring. from red buds, to soft creamy pink blooms in a compact, semi dwarf form.

Cunningham’s White - classic, large white blooms that brighten deep shade.

With varieties ranging from compact foundation plants to large statement shrubs, there’s truly a rhododendron for every garden style and scale.

If you’re looking for a tough, beautiful perennial that absolutely shines in spring, Basket of Gold (Aurinia saxatilis) deserves a spot in your garden.

This easy-care perennial bursts into bright golden bloom just when gardens are waking up for the season. And its soft gray-green foliage forms a low mound that looks great even after flowering.

When clients build something this beautiful, we make sure it gets the spotlight it deserves!

Our wonderful clients built this intricate, custom wood shed and we needed to make it part of the new landscape. We carefully lifted and relocated the structure to its new home where it is now framed by the landscape so its craftsmanship is showcased. Sometimes it's not about adding more but honoring what already exists.
