Constructors, Inc. is scheduled to begin work for Eddy Co. Road Department on Derrick Rd. from Old Cavern Highway to US 285 beginning Monday May 18, 2026, working on both shoulders until completion.

Please be aware of machinery and personnel working on Derrick Road Monday thru Friday until we complete the project.

Traffic Control signs will be placed at all intersections in the work areas and personnel will be onsite to assist the public and emergency services.

Work will begin at 7am and end at 5pm each day of work weather permitting.

ANNOUCING: Upcoming Tetanus Shot Clinic – ROSWELL AREA (NMRM Yard)

Tetanus – What You Need to Know

Tetanus is a serious infection caused by bacteria found in dirt, dust, and rusted metal. It enters the body through cuts, puncture wounds, or scrapes—common on construction sites.

Why it matters:
Tetanus attacks the nervous system and can cause severe muscle stiffness, jaw locking, and difficulty breathing. It can be life-threatening if not treated.

Common risks on the job:

Stepping on nails or sharp objects

Cuts from metal, wire, or tools

Puncture wounds from rebar or debris

Not cleaning wounds right away

How to protect yourself:

Keep your tetanus shot up to date (every 10 years, or sooner for dirty wounds)

Wear gloves and proper PPE

Clean all cuts immediately—wash with soap and water

Report and treat injuries, even small ones

Bottom line:
A small cut can turn into a big problem. Clean it, cover it, and make sure your tetanus vaccination is current.

Tétanos: Lo que necesita saber

El tétanos es una infección grave causada por bacterias presentes en la tierra, el polvo y el metal oxidado. Se transmite al cuerpo a través de cortes, heridas punzantes o raspaduras, comunes en las obras de construcción.

Por qué es importante:
El tétanos ataca el sistema nervioso y puede causar rigidez muscular severa, bloqueo de la mandíbula y dificultad para respirar. Puede ser mortal si no se trata.

Riesgos comunes en el trabajo:

Pisar clavos u objetos afilados

Cortes con metal, alambre o herramientas

Heridas punzantes con varillas de refuerzo o escombros

No limpiar las heridas de inmediato

Cómo protegerse:

Mantenga su vacuna antitetánica al día (cada 10 años, o antes si las heridas están sucias)

Use guantes y el equipo de protección personal (EPP) adecuado

Limpie todos los cortes inmediatamente con agua y jabón

Reporte y trate las lesiones, incluso las pequeñas
