Let’s talk about your “Kitchen Garden” here in San Diego, starting with your herbs. With our mild coastal climate, you can plant cool-season herbs like parsley, cilantro, chives, dill, and fennel—they thrive as the weather cools down.
Don’t forget to give your summer herbs a little TLC:
✂️ Pruning Tip: Cut back woody herbs like rosemary, thyme, and oregano by about 1/3 to encourage healthy new growth. Snip just above a leaf node, and your herbs will reward you with a fuller, more fragrant harvest. Most herbs can be considered “cut and come again”
In our climate.
As a designer, I always remind clients: keeping your herb garden thriving isn’t just functional—it creates a space that’s beautiful, aromatic and easy to harvest…..and it sure beats that store bought parsley🌿
