The Carroll County Schools Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp Unit GA-20062 has been selected as one of only 95 recipients of the Distinguished Unit Award with Merit for 2022. Additionally, Instructor Master Sergeant Steve Peters has been named the top Senior NCO in Region 5.

The DUAM designation recognizes Air Force JROTC units that have performed above normal expectations and have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to their school and community while meeting the Air Force JROTC citizen development mission for America. In addition to meeting certain standards, DUAM units must average over 12 hours of community service per cadet. Carroll County cadets averaged over 16.5 hours of community service this year.

Master Sergeant Peters ranks among the top 16 instructors in the country after being named the Top Senior NCO in Region 5. Both Peters and Lieutenant Colonel Mike Washington earned the Outstanding Instructor Award for this school year. Of 1,873 instructors across the country, only 194 received this distinction.

Carroll County’s JROTC Unit GA-20062 had 104 cadets during the 2021-2022 school year and includes students from Bowdon High School, Central High School, Mount Zion Eagles - High School Carrollton GA., Temple High School and Villa Rica High School.

The objectives of the Air Force JROTC program are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship and life skills; promote community service; instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline through character education, and to provide instruction in air and space fundamentals. Enrollment is open to students in grades 9-12.

Air Force JROTC is located in over 870 high schools across the United States and at selected schools in Europe, in the Pacific, and in Puerto Rico. Air Force JROTC enrollment includes more than 125,000 cadets who perform over 1.6 million hours of community service each year.

Travel throughout NC,SC,AL,FL on a regular basis. There will be less routine travel to other job sites throughout the US, including trips to home office and other office locations located throughout US.
Assist construction site workers in erecting structures and demolition.
Unload and load construction materials.
Distribute materials.
Mix and pour concrete.
Level concrete and earth using trowels and shovels, if necessary.
Remove debris and clean any spills.
Signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance.
Travel may be unplanned and sporadic. This position requires a very flexible person who can travel at a moment's notice.
Must be willing to travel out of town for work on occasion (about 20% of the time)
Must be willing to work nights
