Details matter. The sediment stuck in the thread of this drain plug can make it too hard to tighten or remove, causing it to break. The deterioration on the o-ring can be caused from over-tightening, not being lubricated, or age.

Catching and fixing this now, during a filter clean, can prevent a massive problem later.

Most pool owners assume that if their water is clear, their pool company is doing a good job.
