Unfortunately, I did lose a couple customers this year because my pricing is now aligned with industry standards and may not have been where it should have been from the beginning. I’ve been the underpriced guy for way too long. While I always try to keep services affordable, it’s important that pricing reflects the quality, reliability, time and rising costs involved in providing professional lawn care services.
The point of this post is to help explain weekly vs. biweekly mowing schedules, because it’s not about charging you extra it’s about charging accordingly and fairly based on the level of work required.
Most lawn care companies structure pricing based on frequency of service
Weekly Cuts
Weekly mowing is the most common and recommended schedule. Grass is maintained consistently, which helps keep the lawn healthier, thicker, and more visually appealing. Because the grass is cut regularly, the work is more predictable and efficient each visit.
Benefits of weekly service
Promotes thicker, healthier grass growth
Helps prevent weeds from taking over
Keeps the lawn looking neat at all times
Allows for cleaner, more precise cuts
Prevents excessive overgrowth that can stress the lawn
Biweekly Cuts
Biweekly mowing means the grass has more time to grow between visits, which results in heavier, thicker cutting conditions. This typically requires more time, more effort, and puts additional strain on equipment in order to properly service the property. Removing too much grass height at once can also stress the lawn and affect overall health.
Because of this, biweekly service is typically priced higher than weekly service across the industry. It’s not about charging more it’s about the additional labor and time required to complete the job properly and maintain the quality of the lawn.
Some companies also offer triweekly or monthly service, but these schedules often lead to very overgrown lawns that require even more work to bring back under control and maintain properly.
While I did lose a couple customers adjusting to industry-standard pricing, I’m very thankful that I also gained new customers this season at the proper rate the work should be valued at. The customers I lost were unfortunately being undercharged previously.
If I lost you due to reasonable price adjustments that reflect industry standards, then you lost me I did not lose you. My goal is to provide dependable, quality service at a fair and honest price so I can continue serving the community long-term.
You lose some and you gain some that’s part of running a business.
My goal has always been to provide reliable, quality work at an affordable price while being fair to both my customers myself and my business so I can continue serving the community long-term.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support small local businesses like mine. Your support truly means everything. 🌱🙏
