Bartow Master Gardeners Association The Georgia Master Gardener program is a volunteer training program for home gardeners offered through county offices of UGA Cooperative Extension.

The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (working cooperatively with Fort Valley State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the counties of Georgia) offers its educational programs, assistance, and materials to all people without regard to age, color, disability, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, or veteran status, and is an Equal Opportunity, Veteran, Disability Institution.

Bees and Butterflies love this plant!

Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) is one of the most recognized native perennials for gardening (it’s even one of Georgia’s wildflower license plate choices!). Along with related species and hybrids among them, it is widely cultivated and sold in a variety of sizes and even colors! ‘Tomato Soup’ indeed! Although only native to a few counties in Georgia, it does make a great garden plant, and some people report that *the species performs much better* than the cultivars. What’s your experience?
