Last night we got to visit Tom & Ma’s Syrup, and it’s always one of our favorite stops. We love spending time with them, catching up, and seeing all the hard work that goes into what they do.

But what makes it even more special now is watching the kids get so interested in the process—learning how maple syrup is made and all the different pieces that make their business run. It’s pretty cool to see that curiosity growing.

So… here’s how BF Forestry actually started 🌲😅

It all began because Freddy wanted to build a cabin.

Bailey (hi 👋) suggested a $75 chainsaw attachment.

Fast forward a bit… we bought the sawmill for significantly more than $75.

That turned into:
• More logs
• More equipment
• A kiln
• A planer/molder
• A building to house it all

And somehow… still no cabin 😂

What started as a “let’s cut some logs for a project” idea slowly turned into a full-on family operation. One piece of equipment led to another, one project led to the next, and before we knew it, we were helping friends, neighbors, and customers turn trees into lumber.

Freddy does the hard work.
I keep things moving behind the scenes.
The kids are usually underfoot, learning, helping where they can, and making the building feel like home.

BF Forestry wasn’t born from a big business plan — it grew organically, one idea at a time, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thanks for being here and supporting our family-run adventure.

Hey 👋 we figured it was time to properly reintroduce ourselves.

We’re BF Forestry — a family-owned operation run by our little crew.

🌲 Freddy is the guy doing all the heavy lifting, sawing, running equipment, and actually making things happen.
🌲 Bailey (that’s me) is mostly behind the scenes — organizing, ordering, keeping things moving, providing emotional support & encouragement 😅
🌲 And our kids — Emily, Audrina, and Angus — are usually right there with us. When we built our shop (AKA the building), we added a second floor that’s basically their hangout/playroom.

What we do:

• Custom sawing with our Wood-Mizer sawmill — at our place or on your site
• Lumber sales (rough or finished)
• Planer/molder services — tongue & groove, shiplap, and other profiles
• Kiln drying
• Custom projects — if you have an idea, bring it to us (we rarely say no)

Basically, we can take a tree and turn it into something usable — or help finish material you already have. If there’s something specific you’re looking for, we’re always open to figuring out how to make it work.

✨ Seeing the finished product never gets old. ✨

After months of sawing, stacking, drying, planing, sanding, and finishing, getting to see our wood installed in the museum addition is something really special. Every project we take on is a labor of love, but this one hits a little different.

So many hands helped along the way — family, friends, late nights, early mornings, and a whole lot of teamwork. Seeing how beautiful it turned out makes every bit of that hard work worth it.

We’re incredibly grateful to be part of a project like this and even more grateful for the people who helped make it happen. ❤️🪵

We have been doing some work this week!

Staining some tongue and groove boards. And teamwork certainly makes the dream work! We have a deadline that we couldn’t hit ourselves so we called in some help!

Through everything we have done from sawing to pouring the floor in the building to our first order of stained tongue and groove, we have always been able to count on our friends and family. We will always be grateful for all of the support we have gotten and continue to get!

Kiln is running… helpers are helping…. If you need your lumber, dried and or heat treated, keep me in mind
