๐Ÿ“Š FRIDAY 4/17/26 STORM OUTLOOK

This is a day to pay attention.

The Storm Prediction Center still has a strong risk just northwest of us, and Tulsa remains in an area where severe storms are expected. Nothing has really backed off from yesterday.

Storms may start more isolated late afternoon, then organize into a line this evening.

โš ๏ธ THREATS

Hail:
Potential for large hail (quarter to golf ball+, possibly bigger)
Damages shingles, gutters, vents
May not be visible from the ground

Wind:
60โ€“80+ mph gusts possible this evening
Can tear off shingles
Down fences and tree limbs

Tornado:
Lower risk than hail/wind, but not zero
A few storms could rotate early
Small risk embedded in the line later

โฐ TIMELINE (TULSA AREA)

2-3 PM: Storms develop west/northwest
6โ€“10 PM: Peak severe window
10 PM+: Storms move east and weaken

๐Ÿ“ LOCAL AREAS
Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby and nearby areas are all in play.

๐Ÿง  WHAT THIS MEANS
This is another hit-or-miss early, more widespread later type of day.
Some neighborhoods may miss it. Others could see hail or damaging winds depending on storm track. If a storm hits your house, it has the potential to cause damage.

๐Ÿ“ข FINAL THOUGHT
Stay weather aware this evening and follow your trusted local weather experts.

04/15/2026

Yesterday ended up being more of a wind event than anything. Storms lined up quickly, which limited the hail, and most areas saw little to none. We did see several reports of 60+ mph winds, along with a confirmed tornado touchdown near the Tulsa Hills area.

Today looks just as active, if not a little more organized. The Tulsa area is in a higher-end risk, which means storms could turn severe quickly. This is a day to pay attention.

Main threats:

Hail: Still possible today, with sizes up to quarter to golf ball, and maybe larger in stronger storms. Enough to damage roofs, gutters, and vehicles.

Wind: Once again a big concern. Gusts 60โ€“70 mph could knock down fences, peel shingles, and break limbs.

Tornado risk: Not a guarantee, but itโ€™s there. With what we saw yesterday, this is something to take seriously, especially this evening.

Timing:

2โ€“4 PM: Storms develop west of Tulsa
4โ€“9 PM: Main window for Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby
9 PMโ€“Midnight: Storms move out

This will likely be another hit-or-miss setup. Not everyone sees a storm, but if one tracks over you, it could get your attention quickly.

Make sure you have a way to get alerts and keep an eye on the radar.

Stay weather aware and follow your trusted local weather experts.

๐Ÿšจ MID-DAY SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE โ€“ TULSA AREA (TUESDAY) ๐Ÿšจ

First โ€” quick disclaimer:

Iโ€™m a roofer, not a meteorologist. This is just me sharing what Iโ€™m seeing from the data to help bring awareness. Make sure youโ€™re following your trusted weather sources this evening.

Quick mid-day update as we get closer to storm time.

After looking over the latest SPC outlook and radar trends, nothing has really backed off. If anything, confidence is a little higher that parts of the Tulsa area will see severe weather this evening.

โฐ UPDATED TIMELINE

Storms developing west of Tulsa: Late afternoon
Moving into our area: Around 7 PM
Main window: 7 PM โ€“ Midnight
Clearing out: Shortly after midnight

โš ๏ธ WHAT TO EXPECT

๐ŸงŠ HAIL (STILL THE MAIN CONCERN)

This continues to be the biggest threat
Hail up to 2โ€+ (golf ball to tennis ball size) is still on the table
The kind that can cause real damage quickly

๐Ÿ’จ WIND

Strong gusts possible with storms
Could bring down limbs and cause some property damage

๐ŸŒช๏ธ TORNADO RISK

Still not the main story
But not something to ignore either, especially with storms coming in from the west

๐Ÿง  WHATโ€™S CHANGED?

Honestlyโ€ฆ not much except the enhanced area has grown a little.

This still looks like a hit-or-miss setup, where:

Some areas see nothing
Others take a direct hit with hail or wind

Those are usually the days people get caught off guard.

๐Ÿ“ข WHAT TO DO

Make sure your weather alerts are ON
Check radar later this evening
Stay plugged into your trusted local weather experts

Stay weather aware.

๐Ÿšจ SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE โ€“ TULSA AREA (TUESDAY) ๐Ÿšจ

Iโ€™ve been going through the latest SPC outlook and model trends, and this is one of those days you actually need to pay attention.

First โ€” quick disclaimer:
Iโ€™m a roofer, not a meteorologist. This is just me sharing what Iโ€™m seeing from the data to help bring awareness. Make sure youโ€™re following your trusted weather sources this evening.

Weโ€™re looking at scattered severe storms developing late this afternoon into the evening across Tulsa and surrounding areas.

โฐ TIMELINE
Storms start: Late afternoon (around 4โ€“6 PM)
Peak window: Evening hours
Ending: Most storms should push out by midnight to around 2 AM

โš ๏ธ WHAT TO EXPECT

๐ŸงŠ HAIL (Main Concern)

This is the biggest issue today
Hail could get largeโ€ฆ potentially up to tennis ball size in some spots
Thatโ€™s the kind that dents metal, cracks shingles, and wrecks roofs

๐Ÿ’จ WIND

Gusts could reach 60โ€“75 mph
Strong enough to take down limbs, fences, and cause roof damage

๐ŸŒช๏ธ TORNADO RISK

Not the main story, but not zero either
A few isolated tornadoes are possible, especially with stronger storms
๐Ÿง  WHAT THIS ACTUALLY MEANS

This isnโ€™t a โ€œeveryone panicโ€ kind of dayโ€ฆ

โ€ฆbut itโ€™s also not a day to ignore.

Storms will likely be hit-or-miss, meaning:

Some areas get nothing
Others get hammered with hail or wind

Those are the days that usually lead to the most surprise damage.

๐Ÿ“ข WHAT TO DO
Make sure your weather alerts are ON
Keep an eye on radar this evening
Follow your trusted local weather experts

Stay weather aware.

Tulsa Area Severe Weather Update (Monday 4/13)

I put together a couple quick graphics from the latest NOAA Storm Prediction Center outlooks for today.

Right now, Oklahoma โ€” including the Tulsa area โ€” is sitting in a zone where severe storms are possible Monday afternoon and evening.

That said, thereโ€™s still some uncertainty on storm development.
But if storms do fire, the setup is there for them to become severe pretty quickly.

โธป

What Iโ€™m watching most:

๐ŸŒช Tornado potential across parts of Oklahoma
๐ŸงŠ Large hail (this is the main one from a roofing standpoint)
๐Ÿ’จ Damaging winds

โธป

Timing (Tulsa area):

โฐ Late Afternoon (3โ€“6 PM)
Storms may begin developing west of the area

โฐ Evening (6โ€“10 PM)
Best window for storms to move into northeast Oklahoma

โธป

From a roofing perspective, these are the types of setups where:

โžก๏ธ You might not see much at all
โžก๏ธ But if a storm hits your area, it can produce very localized hail damage

Thatโ€™s how you end up with one neighborhood needing roofs and the next one over wondering what everyoneโ€™s talking about.

โธป

Bottom line:
Storms are not guaranteed, but anything that develops has the potential to get strong fast.

Iโ€™ll be watching things tomorrow and will post updates if storms start firing.

๐ŸŒช A few tornadoes possible
๐ŸงŠ Large hail (some storms could produce significant hail)
๐Ÿ’จ Damaging winds (60โ€“70+ mph possible)

Early storms may be more ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฒ, which is when you typically see the ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—น, before things start lining out later in the evening.

From the roofing side of things, this is the type of day where you can get ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ต๐˜ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—น ๐˜€๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ตs โ€” one neighborhood gets hammered, the next one over barely gets rain.

Iโ€™ll be watching radar this afternoon and will post an update once storms start firing west of Tulsa.

Stay weather aware.
