We’re always up for a challenge, so when our clients were set on having a stone-look for their backsplash, they presented this 17x26 large format porcelain tile.

Although we always recommend purchasing material from high quality distributors instead of big box stores, we were determined to make it work.

Centering our initial application on the range to highlight the focal area, we slowly worked our way above the custom range hood and over to the sink wall where we went up and around a newly installed window.

The end result blends modern with warm vibes without committing to real stacked stone. Go big or go home. 🪨🤎

We were contracted to remove existing 8x8 tile in an entryway, laundry room, mudroom, and powder room floor. We installed applicable tile underlayment and began setting this porcelain 12x12, with a precision layout centered on the hallway opening.

For these high traffic areas, we completed the installation by grouting with Spectralock 1 from

A properly built shower pan is all about precision- slope, layout, drainage, and durability. That’s why every shower we build is installed using ’s complete shower system.

The Hydro Ban pre-sloped shower pan is our go-to because it’s engineered for consistent, reliable drainage from the start.

No guesswork. No shortcuts. Just proven performance for both the installer and the homeowner.

This one is finished with our signature flower drain, carefully centered and integrated into the tile layout for a clean, intentional finish.

For grout, we use Spectralock 1 for its durability, consistency, and long-term performance. We even used the remaining product to refresh and regrout the existing bathroom floor, ensuring everything flows together seamlessly.

Details like this are what separate a standard install from true craftsmanship.🫧

It’s never easy ripping out your own work.

Several years ago, my husband was brought in to complete a shower that had already been through more than most projects ever should. He inherited walls that weren’t square, materials already installed, and a design mid-construction. He did what he always does- made it right, and made it beautiful.

Years later, an accident involving a shower door that someone else improperly installed after his work had been completed damaged parts of the space. When we returned to make repairs, we discovered the original tile had been discontinued- which meant there was only one real option.

Start over.

Piece by piece, the entire shower came out, including his original installation. Not because it failed, but because rebuilding it properly was the only way forward.

This version is the result. A labor of love, patience, and craftsmanship- rebuilt together with intention from the ground up for years to come. The homeowner selected a modern design featuring a two tone wall tile installation, and with two grout colors to showcase the shower pan and walls.

Some projects are about creating something new. Others are about letting go and starting all over when it’s the right thing to do. 🚿🧼

What happens after we build a beautiful shower is none of our business.. 👀

Our job is simply to create the perfect space: flawless tile work, a functional design, and an illuminated custom niche that makes you want to stay awhile.

As Josh Turner says, “Baby lock them doors and turn the lights down low…”

After that, we politely step away and let the shower do what it was designed to do. 😌🫧

More details coming soon. This one is worth the wait.

If you love a good before & after, clap your hands 👏🏼👏🏼

We were contacted by the sweetest couple who were looking to have their tub surround finished & tiled. Little did they know that this would be another shower marked safe from improper technique.🛁

Before getting started, we removed the existing ¼” wall board and installed ½” Hydroban Board from , our preferred manufacturer for all of our waterproofing and setting materials. After completing the process with Seal and Bond, we installed a neutral 12x24 & 2x2 mosaic from .

It’s been a while since we tiled a ceiling, but we used one of our favorite thinsets (254 Platinum), a polymer fortified mortar which provides a superior bond and is even used in exterior and underwater applications.

We trimmed the custom niche (as all of our niches are) with a black Schluter Jolly profile, and installed matte black Moen fixtures. One of our favorite looks. 🖤🤍🤎

When it comes to deciding a proper layout, we pride ourselves in ensuring our lines hit where they’re supposed to.

For a typical backsplash, our starting point is usually the most visual- the center of the sink, the center of the stove, or another deciding factor if that standard isn’t applicable.

Due to the nature of the mosaic by centering a sheet on the centerline of the kitchen sink + window, we managed to flow into the corners seamlessly with a half tile- so much so that our corners appear to “bend”, a rare but achievable look if done correctly.

To create visual contrast and define the smaller coffee bar area, we installed the same glass material in a 3×9 subway vertical running bond format. The linear pattern balances the wave-inspired mosaic while keeping the overall design cohesive.

Intentional material selection, thoughtful pattern transitions, and precise installation all working together to create a space that feels both peaceful and refined.🐟🎣

Lake views brought inside 🌊

We were contacted to install a glass tile backsplash for this Oneida Lake camp house, and our client wanted something that reflected the scenery she wakes up to each day. Standing at the kitchen sink doing the dishes, she overlooks the water closeby- so she was inspired to choose a teal-blue glass tile that mirrors the color, movement, and rhythm of the lake.

As light moves across the surface, the tile shifts just like the waves beyond the window, creating a space that feels calm, bright, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

A remodeled kitchen she designed to reflect the view that inspired it.🩵

Every so often, we’re approached by homeowners who say, “it’s just a small job,” or “anybody can do tile.”
But the most intimate part of being in someone’s home isn’t the space- it’s the things you’re forced to see and can’t unsee.

Working in residential spaces is more than construction. It’s trust and privacy. It’s being allowed into people’s most personal environments. That responsibility requires respect, discretion, and attention to detail- because we’re working within people’s real lives, not just their walls.

This project involved removing outdated 4x4 tile, rebuilding the space with new waterproof backerboard, and installing marble-look porcelain for a clean, timeless finish. The existing brass fixtures were reused to preserve the home’s character, and a grab bar was added for safety and support.

If you’re in a position where you need support, please don’t be afraid to seek help. There are resources available.💛

A project is truly successful when collaboration flows easily between client and craftsman, and that was exactly the case here.

Our client came to us with a clear vision, including a hand-drawn layout and a thoughtfully planned Mediterranean tile pattern for her backsplash space.

While material and style selection is always an important part of architectural harmony, our role on this project was to execute her design with precision, craftsmanship, and care.

The trust built through that process led to a continued working relationship, and we were proud to return to complete the herringbone kitchen floor as well- a reflection of the confidence and rapport established through this collaboration.🌅

We love a detail project, and there’s no better way to showcase our craft than to present this herringbone kitchen floor.

We started by removing the existing outdated bamboo hardwoods, securing the subfloor, installing appropriate tile underlayment, ensured there would be zero squeaks with the new floor, and installed over 200 square foot of black porcelain tile.

Being in this industry, we’re honest when it comes to material selections. Not only because we install these products everyday, but because we know and love them- just not all of them.

Having installed a slate looking black porcelain 12x24 tile in our own bathroom, we learned the hard way that the nature of a dark tile is to show everything- dust, footprints, even paw prints (like how we can tell Angel walked in and out of the shower for a drink 🐱🐾).

We’re happy to move forward with our client preferences, but we’re always the first ones to offer guidance. Don’t be afraid to ask questions with your projects to ensure you make the right selection for your space, or you’ll be like us and have to redo your bathroom floor for a second time 🫧

Stay tuned for that in months to come!

Marble Herringbone | A Closer Look 🪶

From this perspective, the beauty of the backsplash reveals itself in the details.

The herringbone pattern introduces movement and structure, while the natural marble variation creates a surface that feels layered and intentional. Precise alignment, clean transitions, and thoughtful spacing allow the pattern to flow seamlessly across the range wall and surrounding surfaces.

These details are where craftsmanship lives: where pattern, material, and light come together to elevate the everyday.
