It’s been a very busy last 7 days. Elliot & I went to Austin Parks and Rec Urban Forestry’s reclamation day on Friday. We were able to load out two trips of mesquite & pecan. We were the first in and last out!
Over the Labor Day weekend I built a log jack from scrap 2x6s and promptly put it to good use milling the pecan log. It was an odd shape and required some special handling so the jack was born of necessity. Best of all, somehow I engineered it to fold flat for storage or transport.
Elliot and also went out to Bertram, TX yesterday & picked up a deer feeder tripod with a winch attached. It’s perfect for rigging and positioning these big logs on the jack for milling. I was able to position the pecan perfectly as I made the cuts. I ended up with 7 pieces out of the pecan log and may be able to get a couple more out of the crown cut.

Bandsaw tires were shot on the 14/12, so I replaced them with Carter Ultra Blue urethane tires. The bandsaw now cuts like butter with the big Resaw King blade!
