Time once again for Stanley’s Summer Suggestions!
Do you have a sump pump in your house? Have you tested to make sure it’s working? Every year during the rainy season a nonfunctional sump pump can be responsible for flooding your basement, and trust us that this is not something you want to deal with. The best way to test and make sure your sump pump is functioning properly is by dumping a couple buckets of water into it and making sure it turns on and expels the water. If it doesn’t turn on then it’s time to call your friendly plumbers here at Southtowne Plumbing. We can get it back up and running and prevent you from having to deal with the expense and headache of a major flood. Hope this helps to keep you and your belongings dry. Stanley’s Summer Suggestion
A Monday is the perfect day for a new summer suggestion. If you are getting ready to head out on a long or short vacation you can save some money via your water heater. There’s no need to heat water you won’t be utilizing. Find the switch or dial towards the bottom of your water heater and flip it to either “low” or “vacation”. This will keep you from paying for hot water while you’re away. You can also turn your water heater all the way off if you prefer and are going to be away for an extended vacation. Just a friendly bit of advice to save money from your friendly Southtowne Plumbing office dog Stanley. Awoof!

Life as office dogs is ruff. We get tuckered out from our office people playing fetch, tug of war, and so many nom noms. We are dog tired by the end of the work day. While our plumbers are out working hard, we get naps and noms. We also stay out of the heat as much as possible. Make sure you leave fresh water outside for your puppers, and don’t leave them out too long. Heat stroke can happen quickly in children and pets. Stanley’s Summer Suggestion:
A garden hose should never be left in the yard. This can not only damage your hoses integrity, but it can also kill the grass or foliage below it. You should also know that when it’s left out in the sun that the water will be very hot upon being turned on. It can get hot enough to burn people, pets, and plants. If you do leave it out please make sure you let the water run a bit first before hitting anyone or anything with the hose so as to avoid possible burns. Check back for more tips all summer long.
