Nestled at the foot of a hill, this 2,000 sq. ft. modern farmhouse was designed to be the perfect countryside getaway.

The open floor plan creates a bright, welcoming space for gathering with family and friends. Large windows, high ceilings, and light finishes fill the home with natural light. The layout intentionally separates the private bedroom wing from the open gathering spaces, making it easy for some to turn in early while others stay up and enjoy the evening.

Outside, a cozy screened porch and spacious patio make it easy to slow down and enjoy the view.

• Layout: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, loft with extra sleeping space, kitchenette, spacious living room, large screened timber-style porch, and an open back deck.

• Porch: Timber-style screened porch with a 48” wood-burning fireplace and real stone chimney finished in Aged Fieldstone Blend veneer.

• Exterior: Poplar board-and-batten siding with Sherwin Williams SuperDeck stain in Canyon Brown color, bronze metal roof, and Pella Lifestyle windows and doors in Iron Ore.

• Interior: Skip-planed poplar walls and ceilings (no stain), 5” red oak flooring with Jacobean stain, solid pine doors, and a 60” wood-burning fireplace with a real stone chimney in Aged Fieldstone Blend veneer.

• Kitchen: Custom painted cabinets with Midnight Mist quartz countertops.

• Loft: Oak railing with aluminum balusters and a custom metal spiral staircase.

Designed to look like an old timberframe barn, this 2,200 sq. ft. retreat was built for slow weekends and evenings spent together. Every material was chosen to create a warm, timeless atmosphere built to be enjoyed for generations.

Welcome to Natchez Getaway.

Designed to look like an old timberframe barn, this 2,200-square-foot family retreat was built for slow weekends and evenings spent together. Inside you’ll find 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, a loft for extra guests, a kitchenette, and a spacious living room. Outside, you’ll find a timber-style screened porch and a large back deck.

Warm, rustic finishes bring the timberframe style to life with skip-planed poplar walls, red oak floors, solid pine doors, and real stone fireplace veneers.

Every detail was chosen with comfort in mind. A full-height encapsulated crawlspace provides plenty of storage, while two wood-burning fireplaces—one inside and one on the screened porch—make cozy evenings by the fire possible year-round.

We were thrilled to make the homeowner’s vision a reality and couldn’t be more pleased with the result!

Students in our architectural design class are continuing to love it! Paul makes the environment fun and relaxed as they learn the technicalities of home design.

Last week, they learned about interior finishes such as tile, flooring, and cabinets. They then took that knowledge and used it to create cabinets in the software.

Bluff Point Lodge was built as a family retreat.

Tucked amongst the trees at the top of a bluff, it overlooks the Duck river and expansive pastures below. It has everything you’d want in a cozy rural getaway.

🏡 A screen porch with a wood burning stone fireplace.
☀️ A large deck overlooking the bluff.
🚙 A basement and two car garage.
🔥 A warm and inviting great room with vaulted ceilings, lots of windows, and a gas fireplace.
🛏️ A bunk loft overlooking the great room, with four built-in-beds. Each is set up with its own bookshelf, light, charging station, curtain, and drawers underneath. Perfect for lots of guests and family staycations.
⚡️ A camouflaged trap door that leads down a ladder into the basement in case access is needed quickly during storms.

This remains one of our all time favorite builds. It was a pleasure building this peaceful family retreat.
