DESCRIPTION:

• Assisting with the preparation of concrete and mortar
• Helping the mason to lay stones, bricks, blocks, and several other materials to form structures
• Ensuring that surfaces are prepared before beginning work
• Ensuring that the laying of blocks or bricks conforms to blueprints, plans, or drawings
• Molding expansion joints and edges with the use of the necessary tools such as edging tools, jointers, straightedge, and so on
• Mixing grout or cement and moving it to the work area
• Cutting bricks that are needed for corners, arches, and complex patterns
• Ensuring that the required tools needed for a job or project are ready and well-kept after the job.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Well-developed physical strength and stamina to lift heavy objects, make strenuous movements, and also handle tools efficiently
• Good communication and interpersonal skills which enables a masonry laborer to work effectively and liaise with team members and the professional mason
• Profound knowledge of the relevant masonry tools, as a masonry laborer is expected to be familiar with tools such as edging tools and jointers to use them efficiently and effectively
• Highly detail-oriented mind, as the job of a masonry laborer requires him/her to pay particular attention to little details such as working on edges, complex patterns, arches, etc.
• At least a High School diploma or several years of apprenticeship on the job.
• Reliable transportation to/from office or job location.
• Reliable means of communication through an active cell phone.

We are looking to hire an experienced concrete finisher who can pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including driveways, sidewalks, curbs, and floors. You may also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.

To be a successful concrete finisher, you must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology. We are looking for someone who can work shifts if necessary, over weekends, and at night. You should also be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods of time, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather.

Concrete Finisher Responsibilities:

1. Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.
2. Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
3. Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
4. Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
5. Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
6. Applying sealing and hardening components.
7. Safely operating power vi****or to ensure the concrete is compacted.
8. Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.

Concrete Finisher Requirements:

1. High school diploma.
2. Minimum 2 years work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.
3. Ability to stand for long periods.
4. Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours.
5. Ability to kneel for long periods.
6. Knowledge of hand-held and power tools including power vi****ors, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.
7. Able to work shifts, at night and on public holidays as required

MASONRY LABORER NEEDED ASAP!!!

Construction experience required, masonry and/or concrete experience a plus. Will be working with brick, block, stone, pavers and concrete. Projects are not limited to but include patios, seawalls, retaining walls, foundations, outdoor kitchens, firepits, etc.

Reliable transportation and communication required.

Must be a team player, able to follow direction, willing to learn and grow.

Starting pay is $12 - $15, based on experience in the industry.

Refined modern stone and brick masonry skills, appropriate to apprenticeship level. Understanding of heritage masonry skills and techniques is an asset. Ability to interact well with team members. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform masonry to company’s standard of quality, under the direction of the Lead Mason, according to the plans and specifications. Bring discrepancies and special conditions to the attention of the Project Manager.
• Maintain a safe and clean jobsite.
• Care for tools, equipment and materials
• Familiar with any or all of the following:
• construction, alteration, repair and installation of structures made of block, stone, brick, and concrete
• utilizing hand tools and power tools of the masonry trade
• lay out of foundations, shoot elevations with transit or level, construct and set forms for foundations, headwalls, and curbs
• selecting types of cement, plaster mortar, blocks, stone, or brick to be used
• setting stone, brick and block, applying knowledge of stress and strain and ratio of mixes and bonds
• measuring and cutting stone, brick and block according to specifications.
