The name change better reflects my mission to design compact house plans for single family homes and backyard guest houses as I market my services throughout North America.

Big picture, they a quick and less expensive way to make a dent in the housing shortage. For homeowner, they are a great way to add value to a lot, create flexibility for an extended family, and possibly supplement your income. Many of the plans I sell on dumbhome.com meet ADU zoning guidelines or I can create a custom design!

When I worked up my first round of house plans, I purposefully avoided putting too much ornamentation on the exterior images. The idea was to show a blank slate so people could imagine the outside they way they wanted.

For kicks, I’ve tried a side-by-side with and without landscaping. Which one do you prefer? The idea is to display an image that will compel someone viewing my website or video to look at the flyer, which has additional information and renderings.

One cool product on the Practice House that I really love are the Rainhandlers, which take the place of traditional gutters. I took these pics this morning showing
last night’s snow sheeting off my metal roof, curving around the Rainhandlers, and freezing in place. Fun stuff!
