This was a scary and interesting one!

For the nerds (like me) out there; loose or corroded wire lugs can cause a build up of heat and in some cases - arcs.

Whenever the washer and dryer combo was powered up in this home, it caused a main lug to weld itself solid from a mixture of issues stated above. The washer and dryer also took damage and will need to be replaced but thankfully this was the best case scenario.

There are cases where the homeowner isn't so lucky and they lose everything to a house fire. Please contact me if you have any concerns of older wiring in your home or weird electrical issues you may be having. It could be something worth looking into.

Thankfully, I was able to temporarily get them back up and running - safely, until major components can be replaced.

Wire installed in the 70s and later can deteriorate over time and can lead to electrical issues that shouldn't be ignored.

This is also an extreme example of what can happen when the incorrect type wire is used. Thankfully, this was a best case scenario when diagnosing and changing it out.

One of my favorite things about electrical work is making old, messy panels and services neat, organized and new. There's very little that's as mentally rewarding.

While shooting a laser to layout holes for new wires isn't updating an old panel, or necessarily fancy, hard work, it goes without saying that these new installs and running wires also deserve to look aesthetically pleasing and not just slop thrown in for the sake of making a dollar.

Part of a having a successful install is having the proper tools to execute the job quickly and efficiently. Although it seems simple, it makes the difference between a company that chooses quantity over quality and one's that choose quality over quantity.
