This large red oak had become a growing concern for the homeowners. The tree was co-dominant, with one very large lead leaning heavily over the house. It also had significant rot and hollowing at the base, while the roots were beginning to affect the home's foundation and concrete driveway.

The tree was also in the way of a new brick walkway the homeowners wanted to install.

Tree Top Flyer carefully removed the red oak and ground the stump, clearing the way for the next phase of their property improvement project.

🚨 A hazardous tree can become a serious problem fast.

Tree Top Flyer recently completed a challenging tree removal in Carrboro, NC, where a large, hollow tree was growing over a home and directly beneath communication wires.

The warning signs were already there. Two large limbs had recently broken from the tree—one landed on the roof, and another struck a vehicle. During the removal, our crew also discovered significant hollowing and internal decay in the trunk.

Because of the tree's location and condition, careful climbing, rigging, and controlled removal were essential to protect the home, property, and surrounding lines.

Not every tree removal is straightforward—and this Chapel Hill project is proof of that.

This massive dead white oak took two days to remove safely. With a healthy maple directly underneath, mature azaleas and rhododendrons, a deer fence, and the home just feet away, there was virtually no room for error.

Our team built a custom zip-line rigging system to guide branches safely over the maple, carefully roped down every limb over the house, and precision-felled the remaining trunk through an incredibly tight opening.

🌳 Sometimes the safest decision is also the hardest one.

Our customer loved these mature trees and hoped to keep them for years to come. Unfortunately, two sweet gum trees had severe rot at their bases, two more were leaning heavily over the home, and a maple tree threatened the shed and garden.

After safely removing the hazardous trees, we honored the homeowner's wishes by leaving the sweet gum trunks standing as natural wildlife habitat. These "snags" provide nesting and feeding opportunities for birds and other native wildlife—a thoughtful way to balance safety with conservation.

Recently, our crew completed a challenging hickory tree removal project in Chapel Hill where the tree was located extremely close to a home and outdoor AC unit — all while working on a steep hillside.
