Meet Jessica, the creative force behind Roots & Sproots, where every garden, planter, and porch display is a carefully curated work of living art. Growing up in Massachusetts with parents who loved plants, she developed an early appreciation for the beauty of growing things. Her career later took her to New York City, where she refined her eye for design working under Martha Stewart, translating the colors of fresh blooms and botanical art into beautiful homedécor. That instinct for pairing color, form, and texture now shines through in every container she creates. After more than a decade in the city, Jessica settled in Chapel Hill, where Roots & Sprouts was born. Today, she transforms porches, patios, and entryways into vibrant seasonal displays—no sprawling garden required.
When presented with the Crescent Garden Rim TruDrop Self-Watering Planter and red, white, and blue Suntory Soiree Kawaii blooms, the inspiration came naturally: create something festive, dynamic, and beautifully balanced. A planter this substantial called for height and drama, leading to the addition of a mandevilla vine trained on a slender black trellis. Its glossy foliage and white trumpet blooms add elegance and strong vertical structure. To create contrast and movement, Jessica paired airy euphorbia, reminiscent of fireworks, with the fuller Soiree Kawaii blooms, while chartreuse sweet potato vines brighten the composition below. Set against the home’s cool blue-gray siding, the colors stand out with crisp, celebratory contrast, creating a display that feels both polished and full of summer spirit.
