RAIN, RAIN… AND YOUR SEPTIC TANK
If it feels like it’s been raining for DAYS around here… it pretty much has. And all that water can cause problems for your septic system.
When the ground becomes completely saturated, your drain field has nowhere for the water from your septic system to go.
Think of it like a sponge that’s already soaked — it can’t absorb anything else.
That can cause your septic tank to fill faster than normal and may lead to:
• Slow drains
• Toilets that don’t want to flush
• Gurgling sounds
• Water backing up into the house
• Wet or soggy areas around your tank or drain field
One of the BEST things you can do during stretches of heavy rain is give your septic system a break.
Spread out laundry.
Take shorter showers.
Skip the extra loads of dishes if you can.
Basically… the less water you send down the drain, the better.
And if your septic starts acting a little crappy after all this rain… well, you know who to call. 😉
