Another reminder why proper electrical diagnosis matters.
A technician (not an electrician) told this homeowner that the wire feeding the A/C from the panel in the garage to the attic unit was undersized and incorrect.
After my assessment, the feeder from the panel was properly sized. The actual issue was the wiring from the disconnect to the A/C unit, which was undersized and overheating.
That section was corrected and the system is now safe and code compliant.
Not every electrical problem starts at the panel, and not every technician is qualified to diagnose electrical wiring. When it comes to electrical safety, get an electrician.

It still worked — but it wasn’t safe.

From the outside, this outlet looked fine. Inside, it was brittle, heat-stressed, and starting to fall apart.

These are the kinds of issues that don’t trip breakers or cause obvious problems right away but they do increase the risk of overheating, arcing, and fire over time.

We removed the failing device and installed a new, properly grounded and secured receptacle so the homeowner can use it safely and with confidence.

If you have loose outlets, cracked, painted over, or more than a couple of decades old, it’s worth having them checked.

When I check out ceiling fans that shake or hum around the neighborhood, I usually find things like:

• Fans mounted to standard light boxes instead of fan-rated boxes
• Mounting screws barely holding into drywall or thin metal
• Loose neutrals or grounds causing electrical noise or vibration
• Dimmers or speed controls that aren’t compatible with the fan motor
• Older fans with worn bearings or warped blade sets

A lot of the time, the issue isn’t the fan itself — it’s how it was installed or what it’s connected to.

If your fan doesn’t feel solid or sounds off, it’s worth having it checked.

A common electrical safety issue found in homes

This is what an overheating wire looks like inside a panel. That dark, burned section usually comes from a loose connection, a breaker that wasn’t tightened properly, or a circuit carrying too much load for too long.

The breaker trips to stop this from getting worse and to prevent a possible fire.

If your breaker keeps tripping or won’t stay reset, this is why it’s worth getting it checked.

This electrical panel was originally installed inside a closet, creating accessibility and clearance concerns. We relocated and reoriented the panel into the adjacent room to meet proper working-space requirements and improve overall safety.
